Nexon has partnered with Chernin Entertainment to develop film and television adaptations of both ARC Raiders and THE FINALS. Chernin is the lead producer, and Embark Studios’ creative teams are expected to work with the company. The announcement does not say which game will get a film or series, or provide a cast, release date, director, writer, or distributor.
What did Nexon announce?
In an October 6, 2026 announcement, Nexon said Chernin Entertainment would lead production of film and television adaptations of ARC Raiders and THE FINALS. Nexon said it selected Chernin from multiple production companies and studios competing for the adaptation rights. The announcement describes a partnership covering both properties and both screen formats; it does not assign a format to either title. Nexon’s announcement, carried by PR TIMES.
Embark founder and CEO Patrick Söderlund said the creative teams at Embark would work closely with Chernin so the properties’ defining creativity carries into new formats. He described the deal as a step toward “deeply integrated transmedia experiences.” Those statements describe the intended collaboration, not a confirmed production schedule or a promise that a particular project will reach release. GamesRadar+’s contemporaneous report reproduced the English wording of Söderlund’s statement and a statement from Chernin film president David Ready.
Is either game getting a specific TV show or movie?
Not yet, based on the cited announcement and coverage. Nexon has announced adaptations for film and television across the two franchises, but has not said whether ARC Raiders or THE FINALS will be a movie, a TV series, or both. No cast, writer, director, release date, or viewing platform has been announced in those sources. Chernin is identified as lead producer—not as a confirmed broadcaster, streamer, or distributor.

How could the games translate to screen?
The properties have different story engines, so their adaptation questions are different. These are possibilities suggested by the games’ premises, not announced plans.
ARC Raiders: survival on a hostile Earth
ARC Raiders is set on a dangerous, post-apocalyptic Earth where Raiders scavenge while facing hostile machines. That gives a screen story an immediate survival framework: characters need supplies, face threats on the surface, and depend on other people. The game’s world also includes an underground human refuge. An adaptation could explore the tension between that refuge and the risks of going above ground, but Nexon has not announced a plot or chosen that approach.
THE FINALS: a virtual combat game show
THE FINALS frames combat as a virtual game show. A screen adaptation would need to decide where its drama sits: with contestants competing, with the show’s production and spectacle, or with the world beyond the simulation. The announcement does not identify which of those possibilities, if any, Chernin and Embark are considering.
What are fans saying?
Early reactions include enthusiasm, jokes, and skepticism, but the examples available come from one Reddit discussion summarized by Notebookcheck—not a representative poll of players. Notebookcheck reported interest in the world and story potential of ARC Raiders, alongside more reserved reactions to THE FINALS. One reported top comment joked, “Can’t wait to see Tom Holland and Zendaya in this.” Other comments reportedly voiced hopes that the projects would work out and concerns that they could stall or be canceled. How large are the games, according to Nexon?
Nexon’s October 6, 2026 announcement reported 16 million ARC Raiders copies sold globally. It reported more than 30 million cumulative registered users for THE FINALS. Those are different measures: copies sold and registered users should not be treated as a like-for-like comparison, and registered users are not the same as active players. Nexon separately said ARC Raiders reached 250,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch-day peak and exceeded 700,000 peak concurrent players across all platforms within two weeks of launch.
