Neither service is a clear winner for every game soundtrack. Apple Music has a visible Gaming hub with named soundtrack albums and playlists; Spotify has game-music playlists, including official Nintendo playlists for Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Because the examples do not establish that either service has a complete or matching catalog, search for the exact game and soundtrack edition in your own regional account before subscribing for game music.
Which service has more video game soundtracks?
The available examples do not establish which service has more. They show that both carry useful game-music content, but not a complete, title-by-title comparison. Availability may differ by country, storefront, and soundtrack edition, so neither a service’s featured page nor a playlist is a guarantee that a particular recording is available to you.

Apple Music: a dedicated Gaming hub
Apple Music’s Gaming page displays playlists and albums including Hollow Knight (Original Soundtrack), Persona 5 (Original Soundtrack), Journey (Original Video Game Soundtrack), Hades: Original Soundtrack, and Celeste (Original Soundtrack). These are examples shown on the page, not proof of a complete game-soundtrack catalog.

Spotify announced on April 24, 2026, that it was introducing Nintendo Game Music Official Playlist content featuring soundtracks from Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. That is a documented example of official, game-specific content—not evidence that every Nintendo soundtrack, or every game OST, is available.
#1 Best Overall
- Genre: Soundtrack
- Number of Discs: 1
- Number of Tracks: 12
- Album Title: Minecraft Volume Alpha
- Music Artist/Band: C418
Spotify also has public user-created collections, such as Greatest Original Game Soundtracks. A community playlist is not the same as an official editorial collection, and its selection or track availability can change.
How to check whether your soundtrack is available
- Search each service in the account and country where you plan to listen. Try the game title and terms such as “original soundtrack” or “OST.”
- Check the edition, not just the game name. Original, expanded, remastered, and regional releases can be listed separately; confirm that the album or tracks are the ones you want.
- Open the album or playlist and verify that the specific tracks play in your account. A page or search result alone does not establish availability in every region or at a later date.
- If a title is missing, check whether that particular game received an official physical release, such as a CD, and whether it is currently available. One listener discussion describes buying and importing a CD after not finding a soundtrack through streaming or a digital store; that anecdote does not establish a release or current stock for other games.
Does audio quality make one service better?
Both services offer lossless options, but the cited format information does not establish that one will sound better for a particular game soundtrack or listening setup.

| Service | What its support information says | What affects playback |
|---|---|---|
| Spotify | Spotify Premium supports streaming up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, according to its Premium benefits page. | Compatibility and connection conditions apply; check that the track and your playback path support the quality you want. |
| Apple Music | Apple says lossless compression is available for most of the Apple Music catalog in its lossless audio support information. | Actual streamed quality depends on song availability, network conditions, and connected headphones or speakers. |
For either service, the format available for the exact recording and the connected device and audio path matter. The cited support pages do not demonstrate an audible difference on a particular soundtrack or setup, so choose based on the recordings you can access and the equipment you use rather than the format label alone.
Quick Recap
Which service should you choose?
- Start with Apple Music if you value a visible game-music discovery hub and its displayed albums include the titles you want.
- Start with Spotify if its official game-specific playlists or user-created collections surface the music you want, and verify the exact tracks in your account.
- Choose by catalog fit if one service has a specific original or expanded edition the other lacks in your region. That exact match is more useful than a general claim that one platform has more OSTs.
- Look beyond streaming when a needed album is absent, but confirm that the game actually had a physical release and that the edition is available before relying on it.
