As of October 4, 2026, Apple has not announced a product called HomePad in the Apple pages reviewed. HomePod and HomePod mini are the confirmed Apple speaker choices; HomePad remains a rumor, with no confirmed specifications, price, or release date. If you need an Apple speaker now, choose between the listed HomePods. If an always-visible screen is essential, wait for official details rather than buying on rumored features.
What is confirmed—and what is still rumor?
Apple’s HomePod page presents HomePod and HomePod mini as speaker products. Apple describes the full-size model as an immersive, high-fidelity audio speaker and the mini as a smaller option. The reviewed Apple pages do not announce a HomePad. That is a finding about the available official information as of October 4, 2026, not evidence that Apple will never release one.
Reports describe a possible display-equipped home hub, but none of these details are official Apple specifications:

- MacRumors’ August 24, 2026 coverage, relaying Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman’s newsletter, described a HomePod-like speaker with a seven-inch display and possible tabletop and wall versions. It also reported possible FaceTime, facial recognition, personalized information, intercom, home-security monitoring, photos, calendar and music features.
- Tom’s Guide reported a possible October 13, 2026 announcement in its September 30, 2026 coverage. That date is a rumor, not a confirmed Apple event or launch date.
So there is no confirmed HomePad product name, final design, price, feature list, or retail availability to compare with HomePod.

What HomePod mini offers for a smart home
Apple’s HomePod mini technical specifications list HomeKit, Thread networking, temperature and humidity sensors, a four-microphone design, 360-degree sound, AirPlay multiroom audio and stereo pairing. Check Apple’s current specifications for the exact feature details relevant to your setup.
Thread compatibility depends on the accessory and home configuration. Apple Support says: “Thread‑based accessories require a Thread‑enabled home hub, such as Apple TV 4K, HomePod (2nd generation), HomePod mini or a third‑party Thread border router.” See Apple’s Thread-enabled accessory guidance and verify the requirements for the specific accessory you plan to use. Do not assume that any speaker will meet every hub requirement.

What to check before buying or waiting
- Need it now: Use Apple’s current HomePod listings to compare the available speaker options for your region.
- Need a display: Wait until Apple publishes an announcement and specifications; the rumored screen size and capabilities could change or never ship.
- Need Thread support: Check both the accessory’s requirements and which Thread-enabled hub your setup includes.
- Considering the rumored price: Treat the reported figure of around $350 as unconfirmed, not as a product price. Check Apple’s regional listing for actual pricing if a product is announced.
