The Apple A19 leads the Google Tensor G5 in the cited iPhone 17-versus-Pixel 10 CPU benchmarks, and it also posts the higher score in one cited graphics test. Those results describe particular phones and test runs, not an immutable verdict on the chips. Tensor G5’s case is better understood through the Pixel features and on-device AI Google targets, rather than as a benchmark win.

Which phones and processors are being compared?

The A19 is tested here in the Apple iPhone 17, while Tensor G5 is tested in the Google Pixel 10. A phone-level result reflects more than its processor: cooling, memory, firmware, operating system, and workload can affect performance. Treat the figures below as evidence about these devices under named tests, not as fixed ratings for every A19 or Tensor G5 phone.

Geekbench Browser identifies the iPhone 17 processor as a six-core A19 and the Pixel 10 processor as an eight-core Tensor G5. That device metadata does not establish the chips’ detailed core layouts. Android Central reports a more detailed Tensor G5 configuration, but the sources cited here do not establish an equivalent A19 breakdown.

How do their CPU benchmark scores compare?

Both cited CPU comparisons put iPhone 17 ahead, but the scores differ by source. Keep the results separate: the Geekbench Browser entries are device records using slightly different patch versions, while Tom’s Guide reports its own Geekbench 6 test results.

Source and test iPhone 17 with A19 Pixel 10 with Tensor G5 How to read it
Geekbench Browser, Geekbench 6.7.x 6.7.0: 3,044 single-core; 9,344 multi-core 6.7.1: 2,251 single-core; 5,495 multi-core Recorded device results with different patch versions. The page lists iOS 26.6.2 and Android 17, and 7.49 GB and 11.29 GB of memory available to the benchmark, respectively.
Tom’s Guide, Geekbench 6 3,701 single-core; 9,460 multi-core 2,345 single-core; 6,581 multi-core A separate reviewer’s test table; do not average it with the Geekbench Browser results or treat the runs as one session.

The gap between sources is a useful reminder that benchmark results depend on run conditions and device state. The Geekbench Browser entries also differ in operating system, available benchmark memory, and patch version, so they are directional evidence rather than a controlled chip-only comparison.

What do the graphics and video tests show?

3DMark graphics

Tom’s Guide lists 130.97 frames per second for iPhone 17 and 80.58 fps for Pixel 10 in 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited. This is one test result, not a guarantee of frame rates across games or during long, thermally demanding sessions.

Video transcoding

In Tom’s Guide’s Adobe Premiere Rush test table, iPhone 17 completed the task in 0:22 and Pixel 10 in 2:22. The captured report does not detail the app version, settings, or exact procedure, so use this as one example of a workload result—not a prediction for every editing app or export.

What is known about Tensor G5’s design?

Android Central reports Tensor G5 as having one Cortex-X4 core at 3.78 GHz, five Cortex-A725 cores at 3.05 GHz, two Cortex-A520 cores at 2.25 GHz, a PowerVR DXT-48-1536 GPU, a fourth-generation TPU, and LPDDR5X memory. It also reports TSMC 3 nm manufacturing. These are secondary-source specifications; the material cited here does not establish a corresponding detailed A19 architecture for a like-for-like specification table.

Android Central attributes two generational performance claims to Google: a 34% average CPU uplift over Tensor G4 and up to 60% more TPU power. These are manufacturer claims about Tensor G5 versus its predecessor, not measurements comparing Tensor G5 with A19.

How should cooling and phone configuration affect the comparison?

Android Central’s Geekbench 6 table reports Pixel 10 at 2,179 single-core and 4,777 multi-core, compared with 2,333 and 6,375 for Pixel 10 Pro/XL. It notes that cooling may help the Pro models and that Pixel 10 does not have the vapor chamber found in Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL. The phones use the same Tensor G5, so their different results illustrate why a phone benchmark cannot be assigned to a processor in isolation.

What the benchmarks do—and do not—settle

  • CPU: The cited iPhone 17 results are higher in both single-core and multi-core testing. Always retain the source and Geekbench version alongside a score.
  • Graphics: iPhone 17 leads in Tom’s Guide’s Wild Life Unlimited result, but a single benchmark does not establish sustained gaming performance.
  • AI: Google’s TPU claims describe Tensor G5’s intended capabilities, but the cited material does not provide a common standardized A19-versus-Tensor G5 AI benchmark.
  • Real use: App behavior, camera and AI features, operating system, device cooling, and the specific task matter alongside synthetic scores. The Premiere Rush result is one workload example, not a universal measure of app speed.

What specifications are not established here?

The cited sources do not establish a like-for-like primary-source comparison of A19 and Tensor G5 die architecture, manufacturing process, cache, memory bandwidth, or standardized AI throughput. Nor do the benchmark tables prove how either chip performs in every phone, app, or sustained workload. For those questions, avoid treating secondary reporting or a single phone score as an official, exhaustive chip specification.
