Use any advanced fix only when it matches the error you see: the timing alone does not prove anti-cheat caused the launch failure.
EA says Apex Legends moved from Easy Anti-Cheat to EA Javelin effective September 29, 2026. The migration happens automatically when you launch the updated game. EA also says Secure Boot is not required for Apex’s migration. The steps below concern the PC version; they are not console anti-cheat installation instructions.
Start with the failure you can see
Before changing settings, record the exact error message or code and what happens when you launch: does the launcher fail to open, does the game remain stuck on “Preparing,” does it close immediately, or does an anti-cheat message appear? EA documents different remedies for different errors and launcher states, so these details help identify the relevant path.
- Check EA’s server status page and official Apex communications for a reported service problem. This is a check, not confirmation that an outage is occurring.
- Restart Apex Legends and your PC.
- If you launch through Steam and see a download progress bar on the Apex launch screen, wait for Steam’s background update to finish before troubleshooting further.
EA lists corrupted game files, background software conflicts, and Windows or driver conditions among possible causes of launch problems. The anti-cheat change may be relevant, but it is not the only possible explanation.

Repair Apex Legends through your storefront
Repairing or verifying the installed files is a sensible next step for general launch problems and is specifically recommended by EA for certain anti-cheat errors.
EA app
- Open the EA app and select Library.
- Find Apex Legends, then select Manage or the three-dot menu.
- Select Repair and let the process finish.
- Launch Apex Legends again.
Steam
In Steam, use the game’s game-file repair or verification option, then relaunch after it completes. EA’s Apex error guidance links to Steam’s file-verification instructions for Error 30005: verify game files in Steam.

Use the fix for the exact anti-cheat error
“The client failed Anti-Cheat runtime integrity check”
EA says this error can result from a corrupted file and recommends repairing Apex through the EA app: Library > Apex Legends > Manage > Repair. If repair does not resolve it, EA says a fix may be needed; avoid assuming a separate Windows or BIOS change is the answer.
Error 30005
EA recommends repairing the game files through the EA app or Steam. Its general Apex error page also lists deleting a .sys file from C:Program Files (x86)EasyAntiCheat and restarting. However, EA’s later migration announcement says Apex moved from Easy Anti-Cheat to Javelin effective September 29, 2026, and does not clarify whether that older Easy Anti-Cheat path still applies to a post-migration installation. Treat file deletion as an unresolved legacy instruction, not an assured Javelin fix; if repair fails, consult current EA Apex support before deleting files.

Javelin Error #41 on Windows 11 Insider Preview
EA says an Insider Preview build may be missing a renewed Windows Insider certificate. Install the latest available Insider Preview update, restart Windows, and try launching again. This guidance is specific to the stated Insider Preview case, not a general fix for all Windows 11 users.
Expired or unsigned driver / unrecoverable error
EA’s Javelin guidance recommends restarting and relaunching first. If the error remains, its guide points to Microsoft’s Secure Boot enablement steps. Keep this instruction tied to that driver-related error: EA separately says Secure Boot is not required simply to migrate Apex to Javelin.

Incompatible software named in the error
If the message identifies software, follow that message and EA’s current Javelin guidance. EA says the named item may need an update or may be disallowed while a Javelin-protected game is running. Do not disable unrelated security software or other applications without a specific reason.

- Clear the EA app cache.
- Close background apps that may limit app performance.
- Check for Windows and graphics-card updates, including current drivers.
- If the app still cannot prepare the game, try a Windows clean boot.
- Temporarily turn off the EA in-game overlay as a diagnostic check if crashes continue; turn it back on after the issue is fixed.
These are general app troubleshooting steps, not Javelin-specific requirements. EA’s guidance is available in its EA app game download, install, and loading troubleshooting.
When to contact EA
If the error is not covered here or the documented steps fail, check the latest Apex status and communications, then ask for help through the EA Forums or EA support. Include the storefront (EA app or Steam), Windows version and build, exact error text or code, whether file repair completed, and when the failure began. Those details help distinguish a game-file problem from a Windows, driver, software-compatibility, or service-side issue.
