AnWave 2024 is a third-party Windows utility for managing downloaded AMD and NVIDIA graphics drivers, opening a customized AMD Radeon Software setup workflow, and cleaning graphics-driver software. It is not an AMD product, and the project describes itself as a personal development project. If you only need to choose AMD installer components or remove existing AMD graphics software, AMD’s own installation and cleanup tools may be enough.
What AnWave 2024 does
AnWave presents its features through one interface: it can work with a downloaded driver package, provide an AMD Radeon Software Customize Setup workflow, and offer an Advanced Cleanup Utility. The project describes it as a portable Windows application. You obtain the AMD or NVIDIA driver package separately; AnWave is not the driver itself. Despite the phrase “GPU Cleanup Utility,” the cleanup discussed here is software cleanup, not physical cleaning or repair of a graphics card. The project’s own usage instructions describe selecting a driver package or a previously unpacked driver, then choosing Custom or Install. Custom opens its AMD Radeon Software Customize Setup interface; Install begins driver installation. These are the project’s stated instructions, not a guarantee that a particular package or system will work as expected. The usage discussion is at AnWave’s usage discussion.

How to use AnWave’s setup workflow
- Download the AMD or NVIDIA driver package you intend to install. AnWave’s workflow depends on a package you obtain separately.
- Open or extract the offline driver package as described in AnWave’s usage instructions.
- In AnWave, select the package version or a driver package that you have already unpacked.
- Choose Custom to open AnWave’s AMD Radeon Software Customize Setup interface, or choose Install to start installation.
These steps reflect the project’s documentation. They do not establish that AnWave will support every driver release, hardware configuration, or installation scenario.
When AMD’s own tools may be a better fit
Choose components during installation
AMD’s official Radeon Software installer includes a Custom Install option for choosing components and an installation location. If another version is detected, a Clean Install option may be available. AMD says that option attempts to remove detected Radeon Software and AMD drivers before installing the selected components. It requires a reboot and prevents rolling back to a previous driver version through Device Manager. Availability can depend on the situation, so consult AMD’s Radeon Software installation guidance.

Remove AMD graphics software before reinstalling
AMD’s standalone AMD Cleanup Utility is designed to remove previously installed AMD graphics and audio drivers and software before new graphics software is installed. It does not remove or modify AMD chipset drivers. AMD recommends Safe Mode for best results: “It is recommended to run the AMD Cleanup Utility in Windows® safe mode for best results.” AMD also notes that the display may flicker or briefly go blank during cleanup, and that a reboot is required for changes to take effect. The company says the process can take 15–20 minutes depending on the amount of work; this is guidance, not a guaranteed duration. See AMD’s AMD Cleanup Utility instructions.
