His account does not publish exact counts, define the discovery-impression denominator, or give a conversion percentage. It describes how an agent can pay for an API call, but it is not enough data to establish a typical conversion rate for agent-payment endpoints.
How an agent pays for an API request
Liem describes a machine-to-machine checkout flow using x402. An agent makes an unpaid GET or POST request; instead of returning the requested resource, the server responds with HTTP 402 and a JSON payment specification. That specification tells the buyer the network, asset, amount, and destination address.
- The buyer agent requests the endpoint without paying.
- The server returns HTTP 402 with the payment requirements.
- If the agent understands the service and supports the specified payment terms, it submits payment on-chain.
- The agent retries the request with a signature or other proof in a header.
- The server verifies the payment and, if it is valid, returns the requested payload.
In practical terms, an agent needs to know what the endpoint provides and what inputs it requires, as well as whether the price and payment method fit its task. The seller must verify payment before fulfillment and handle retries safely. An AWS AgentPay implementation account discusses concerns such as payment verification and replay protection as general engineering context; it does not verify Liem’s endpoint or its reported results. What the conversion account actually establishes
In his October 1, 2026 DEV Community post, Liem says the service was live for a month, routable and health-checked by a public agent directory, listed in a discovery index, and used for a small number of real on-chain payments by other agents. He characterizes the funnel as a handful of paid calls compared with a much larger number of discovery impressions. Read Liem’s account on DEV Community

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The retrieved article text gives no exact numerator or denominator, explains no precise definition of an impression, and reports no numeric conversion rate. “A handful” should therefore remain qualitative; it cannot responsibly be converted into a count, percentage, or industry benchmark.
Liem says settled transaction block hashes are public and can be checked. The indexed text available here does not show those hashes or a transaction ledger, so the reported settlements cannot be independently counted or validated from that account alone.

Why discovery impressions may not become purchases
Liem’s explanation is that much of the traffic discovering his endpoint was scanning to see what services exist, not looking for a particular service to buy. He sums up the distinction this way: “A buyer agent only pays an endpoint it has a reason to call, and most of the traffic that finds me is scanning for what is out there, not trying to buy.”
That is the author’s interpretation of his funnel, not the result of a causal test. The account does not establish that scanning behavior explains all or even a measured share of the gap between impressions and paid calls. Discovery exposure and purchase intent are different signals, but this case does not quantify either one.

What Liem says he would change
Liem says that, if starting again, he would put less effort into reach and more into making the response useful before payment. He describes a free tier or sample as a way for an agent to judge quality before committing, and says he added a free scan endpoint for that purpose. Those are his product lessons, not a demonstrated conversion lift: the account provides no before-and-after figures showing whether the free scan increased paid use.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to make of this case
This is a first-person account of an endpoint that reportedly completed some real agent payments, alongside a qualitative description of discovery traffic. It illustrates an x402-style payment handshake and a useful product question—whether an agent can assess value before paying—but it does not answer how often agent endpoints convert in general. To evaluate a specific implementation, look for clear pricing and input requirements, compatible networks and assets, reliable payment verification, safe retries and replay protection, and predictable fulfillment after settlement.
