Amazon has not publicly confirmed Jayhawk in the reviewed reporting. The Information reported that Jayhawk is the codename for consumer smart glasses with a camera, microphones, speakers and a full-color display in one eye, with a target of late 2026 or early 2027. Reuters said Amazon declined to comment on the report. That makes Jayhawk a reported project—not a confirmed product with an announced price or release date.
What are Amazon’s Jayhawk smart glasses?
Jayhawk is the codename attributed to Amazon’s reported consumer augmented-reality glasses project. The Information, citing two people with direct knowledge, reported the codename and hardware details; Reuters summarized the project on September 10, 2025, and said Amazon declined its request for comment. Neither account is an official Amazon product announcement.
Reported features and timing
- Display: a full-color display in one eye, according to the reporting.
- Camera and audio: a camera, microphones and speakers, according to the reporting.
- Target timing: late 2026 or early 2027 was the reported consumer-launch target—not a confirmed release date.
The reviewed reports do not establish Jayhawk’s final specifications, price, launch date or geographic availability.
How Jayhawk reportedly differs from Amazon’s worker glasses
Reuters distinguished Jayhawk from a separate reported eyewear project for Amazon delivery workers. That internal-use product was described as showing turn-by-turn route and stop guidance on a small screen. Reuters said the reported consumer glasses would use the same underlying display technology but add a full-color display and a sleeker, less bulky design. These distinctions come from reporting, not Amazon-confirmed specifications.

How Jayhawk compares with Meta’s smart glasses
“Meta Ray-Bans” can refer to more than one kind of product. Meta’s camera-and-audio glasses are not the same as its separate display-equipped model, so a comparison should specify the model. Jayhawk’s reported one-eye display makes display type a particularly relevant comparison, but the available reporting is not detailed enough to establish feature parity with any Meta product.
| Product or project | Display and features | Price and availability | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Jayhawk | Reported full-color display in one eye, camera, microphones and speakers; final specifications are not established. | Price and sale date not established; late 2026 or early 2027 was a reported target. | Reported project; Amazon declined to comment to Reuters in September 2025. |
| Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 | Meta says it has up to eight hours of battery life, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera capable of 3K photos and video, upgraded audio and Meta AI. This is Meta’s description of Gen 2. | Meta and EssilorLuxottica announced Japan sales would begin May 21, 2026; the cited announcement does not state a price. | Announced product generation; Meta’s claims apply to the described model and market. |
| Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics | Optical models in the Ray-Ban Meta family; Reuters’ cited report does not specify a built-in display. | Reuters reported U.S. preorders starting at $499 from March 31, 2026, with planned optical-retailer availability from April 14. | Reuters-reported U.S. preorder and planned availability. |
| Ray-Ban Display | Reuters described a separate Meta model with a built-in display for messages and navigation. | Reuters reported a price of $799; the cited account does not establish broader market availability. | Separate display-equipped product, not the ordinary camera-and-audio Ray-Ban Meta models. |
Meta’s figures and product details above are tied to its announcement or to Reuters’ dated reporting; they are not evidence of Jayhawk’s eventual capabilities. Likewise, the reported display in Jayhawk does not by itself show that it would offer the same functions as Ray-Ban Display.

What the smart-glasses market figures indicate
Reuters’ March 31, 2026 article attributed estimates of 9.6 million global smart-glasses shipments in 2025 and 13.4 million expected in 2026 to Ramon Llamas, an IDC research director. Reuters also attributed to Llamas an estimate that Meta accounted for 76.1% of 2025 shipments. These are analyst estimates as reported by Reuters, not official Amazon figures; the underlying IDC publication was not included in the reviewed material.
