Amazon Prime is more than free shipping and Prime Video. Depending on your location and device, the membership also includes music, photo storage, gaming benefits, reading, grocery and prescription delivery options, and other services that are easy to overlook.
Some benefits have important limits. Prime Music is not the same as Amazon Music Unlimited, Luna’s free games rotate, and Prime Video’s Dialogue Boost appears only on eligible titles. Here are the Prime features worth checking in 2025, along with the settings and limitations that matter.

1. Use Prime Music without confusing it with Music Unlimited
Prime members currently get access to 100 million songs ad-free, along with a large selection of top podcasts, playlists, and stations. That is a substantial catalog, but the playback rules are different from a full Music Unlimited subscription.
For much of the expanded catalog, Prime Music uses shuffle playback. You can shuffle-play an artist, album, or playlist, but selecting individual songs on demand is limited to curated All-Access Playlists. This is the distinction that many older Prime Music guides miss.

Offline listening is also limited. Amazon’s current FAQ says Prime members can download only All-Access Playlists, not any song or playlist from the entire Prime catalog.
Find high-quality and immersive audio
In the Amazon Music app, open:
- Find
- Select Dolby Atmos, 360 Reality Audio, or Ultra HD
You can also search for a song, album, or artist, then select Filter and choose one or more audio-format filters. The available formats may depend on the recording, account, app, and playback device.
Use Alexa for hands-free playback
On an Echo device, try commands such as:
Alexa, play AdeleAlexa, play jazz musicAlexa, play the latest album by Norah JonesAlexa, play music for a dinner partyAlexa, play the Song of the Day
You can also describe a song, era, or mood, for example, “Alexa, play the most popular rock from the ’90s.” One limitation is easy to miss: All-Access Playlists requested on Echo devices play in shuffle mode.
Amazon’s FAQ also says that Prime Music is not going away. That is Amazon’s currently displayed position, rather than a guarantee about every future product change.
Device warning: Amazon says Fire Tablet users do not receive the full music catalog or ad-free podcast availability described for Prime members.
2. Turn on Dialogue Boost in Prime Video
If background music and effects overpower speech, check for Dialogue Boost. On supported titles, the feature raises dialogue relative to other audio without requiring a soundbar, special headphones, or other dedicated hardware.
To use it:
- Open the movie or show’s title detail page and check whether Dialogue Boost is listed.
- Start playback.
- Open the in-player audio menu.
- Choose Medium or High.
Dialogue Boost is title-dependent. If the option is missing, that does not automatically mean the Prime Video app or your device is malfunctioning. Amazon documents the feature for eligible titles only.

3. Use Prime Photos for unlimited photo storage
Amazon’s U.S. Prime benefits description includes unlimited photo storage through Amazon Photos. It is useful as a second copy of phone pictures, family albums, and camera files, particularly if you already pay for Prime.

The cited Prime benefits description specifically promises unlimited photo storage and does not establish the video-storage limit or every enrollment detail. Check the Amazon Photos app or website before moving a large video library.
A sensible setup is to enable automatic photo backup on your phone, then periodically confirm that recent pictures appear at Amazon Photos. Cloud sync should supplement—not replace—a separate backup.
4. Claim the included Grubhub+ year if you use food delivery
Amazon’s current U.S. Prime benefits page says Prime members can receive one free year of Grubhub+ without an additional Prime charge. The wording does not mean every member is automatically enrolled, so look for the activation or claim option rather than assuming the benefit is already active.
This benefit is most valuable if you already order often enough for delivery-fee savings to outweigh any exclusions, service charges, minimums, or restaurant-specific conditions. Check the offer terms during activation, especially if you already have a Grubhub subscription.
5. Try the rotating free games on Luna
Prime members can play a rotating selection of games free on Amazon Luna. “Rotating” is important: this is not a permanent free catalog and does not mean every Luna game is included.
On compatible Fire TV devices, Amazon describes two separate ways to play:

- Download games from the Amazon Appstore.
Prime membership does not make every Appstore game free. If you are checking a title, verify whether it is included in the current Prime Luna selection or whether it is a separate purchase or download.
6. Use Prime Reading before paying for another ebook
Prime’s listed benefits include Prime Reading, a rotating selection of ebooks, magazines, comics, and other digital reading content. It is separate from Kindle Unlimited: Prime Reading is an included, smaller catalog, while Kindle Unlimited is a separate subscription.
When browsing Kindle content, look for the Prime Reading or included-with-Prime label before borrowing. Catalog availability can change, so a book that was included previously may later require a purchase or another subscription.
7. Take advantage of delivery beyond ordinary packages
Amazon’s U.S. Prime description includes free, fast delivery and specifically mentions eligible groceries and prescription medication. These are not universal guarantees for every item, address, or order. Eligibility can depend on the seller, location, inventory, order minimum, delivery window, and local service.
When shopping, enter your delivery address and inspect the delivery estimate and Prime badge on the actual product or service page. For prescriptions and groceries, use the relevant Amazon shopping or pharmacy workflow rather than assuming that a normal Prime shipping promise applies.
8. Use Prime Day savings strategically
Prime Day is one of the listed Prime benefits, but a discount is not automatically a good deal. Before buying, compare the current price with the item’s recent price history, check the seller, and confirm the return policy.

9. Check the real cost of Amazon Music Unlimited before upgrading
If shuffle restrictions are the main problem with Prime Music, Music Unlimited is Amazon’s separate upgrade. It adds broader on-demand listening, but do not rely on an old annual-price figure copied from another website.
Amazon’s FAQ contains conflicting annual prices: one section lists Prime-member Individual and Family plans at $99/year and $159/year, while a later 2025 pricing section lists $109/year and $199/year. The safest approach is to open the live subscription screen before confirming a plan.
Amazon says new-customer Music Unlimited pricing changed on January 29, 2025. Existing-customer changes applied at the next monthly renewal on or after March 5, 2025. These dates concern Music Unlimited, not the price of Prime membership itself.

If you subscribed to Music Unlimited through the Amazon Music app on an iPhone or iPad, Apple controls the billing relationship. Amazon says it cannot cancel that subscription, change its payment method, or issue refunds. Use the relevant Apple account subscription settings instead.
10. Remember that Amazon Pay does not require Prime
Amazon Pay is sometimes mistaken for a Prime-only payment benefit. It is not. Any customer with a basic Amazon account can use Amazon Pay when a participating checkout displays the Amazon Pay button.
This is useful when a website supports Amazon Pay and you prefer to use an Amazon account’s saved payment and shipping details. You do not need an active Prime membership to use it.

Amazon’s current U.S. Prime benefits page displays a price of $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Prices, taxes, trials, student plans, government-assistance discounts, and regional availability can differ, so verify the amount shown on your own membership page before subscribing or switching billing intervals.

Is Amazon Prime Music being discontinued?
Amazon’s current FAQ says, “Amazon Music Prime is not going away.” Since that statement is not dated to 2026, treat it as Amazon’s current displayed position, not a guarantee about all future changes.
Can Prime members download any song from Amazon Music?
No. Amazon currently says offline listening is available only for All-Access Playlists. The older claim that Prime members can download any song or playlist is outdated.
Why can’t I pick a specific song in Prime Music?
Prime members can shuffle-play artists, albums, and playlists from the expanded catalog. Selecting individual songs on demand is limited to curated All-Access Playlists.
Does Dialogue Boost work on every Prime Video title?
No. Amazon documents it for eligible titles. During playback, open the audio menu and choose Medium or High when the option is available.
Are all Luna games free with Prime?
No. Prime includes a rotating selection of games free on Luna. The selection changes, and Prime does not make every Amazon Appstore game free.
Do I need Prime to use Amazon Pay?

The most useful underused Prime features are usually the ones that match something you already do: use Amazon Photos for photo backup, check Dialogue Boost when dialogue is hard to hear, claim the Grubhub+ offer if you order food, and inspect the current Luna rotation before buying a game.
