Amazon Prime Day 2026 offered a weaker deal picture overall than the previous two events, and selected SSD and GPU listings in October did not change the broader pattern: some offers were available, but many discounts repeated prices seen before or after price increases. The clearest cited RAM examples were on Newegg, not Amazon. The numbers support a restrained verdict—not a claim that every component deal was poor.
Why the overall Prime Day deal picture was underwhelming
PMG’s analysis of more than 30 million products on Amazon US found an average discount depth of 20.9% during the June 2026 Prime Day event. That was below 21.8% in 2025 and 24.9% in 2024. The share of products carrying any discount also slipped: 29.7% in 2026, compared with 31.8% in 2025 and 31.7% in 2024. PMG’s full-event analysis included both Prime Day-specific deals and general promotional discounts visible to non-logged-in users; these are marketplace-wide figures, not SSD-, RAM-, or GPU-specific measurements.
The distribution points to shallower markdowns as well. PMG reported that 35.8% of discount offers were in the 10%–19% band in 2026, up from 31.4% in 2025 and 27.6% in 2024. Only 5.6% of offers were discounted by 50% or more in 2026, down from 8.5% in 2024. A discount badge therefore says little by itself about whether a particular graphics card, memory kit, or drive is a good buy.
What the cited component offers actually show
The named examples span two different Amazon sales: Prime Day in June and Prime Big Deal Days in October. Their prices are dated snapshots, not current offers, and should not be combined into a single price history.

| Samsung 9100 PRO 1TB NVMe PCIe 5.0 SSD | Amazon, October Prime Big Deal Days; reported October 6, 2026 | $196; stated normal price $340 | TechSpot listed the offer, while noting that many October discounts repeated prices seen for weeks or before recent price hikes. The stated normal price alone does not establish historical savings. TechSpot’s October deals report |
| Asus AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE, 12GB GDDR6 | Amazon, October Prime Big Deal Days; reported October 6, 2026 | $529; stated list price $790 | TechSpot listed this selected offer. Amazon Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days are separate events
Amazon announced that its US Prime Day 2026 event ran June 23–26 and was exclusive to Prime members. That is not the same sale as October’s Prime Big Deal Days, which Windows Central reported ran October 6–7, 2026. The October event has ended, so the figures above describe past listings rather than live prices.
Amazon described Prime Day as “the biggest shopping event of the year exclusively for members,” but that is the retailer’s characterization, not independent evidence that component prices were unusually good. Amazon’s US event announcement also specifies the June dates and membership scope.

How to judge an SSD, RAM, or GPU deal
Compare like with like, and judge the checkout price against a product’s actual pricing history rather than a crossed-out reference price. Windows Central says it checked price history using CamelCamelCamel and advises shoppers to watch for inflated reference prices. Best Buy and Newegg also ran sales during the October event, so Amazon was not the only retailer to compare. Windows Central’s October event coverage
- SSD: Match the exact model and capacity, and check the interface and generation. Compare the final price, price history, competing retailer offers, warranty, and availability.
- RAM: Confirm total kit capacity, module count, speed, and platform compatibility. Include any required coupon in the checkout comparison; a listed price without the code may not be attainable.
- GPU: Compare the exact board model and memory specification, not just the GPU-family name. Check the final price against other retailers and the card’s price history.
- Any category: Verify that the listing is in stock and that the price still applies when you are ready to buy. A dated deal article cannot confirm today’s availability or price.
Verdict: look for a real price, not a sale label
“More sad than exciting” is a fair summary of the restrained marketplace-level Prime Day results and the October coverage’s warning that many discounts were familiar prices. But the evidence does not show that every Amazon component offer was bad, nor does it provide category-specific statistics proving SSD, RAM, and GPU discounts were uniformly weak. Treat the named prices as historical examples, distinguish Newegg’s RAM offers from Amazon listings, and buy only when the exact product’s price history and competing offers make the checkout total compelling.
