Its standout features are Remote Finder, motion-activated backlighting and customizable buttons. Before buying, check Amazon’s compatibility list for your exact Fire TV model: some Amazon Fire TV smart TVs, including Element and Westinghouse models, are excluded.

What the Alexa Voice Remote Pro adds
Amazon announced the Pro on September 28, 2022 as a premium remote for Fire TV. Compared with a basic remote, its main additions are a built-in speaker for finding it, two customizable buttons and motion-activated backlighting. Amazon’s announcement describes those features, but does not provide independent performance measurements.
Remote Finder
When the remote is paired with a compatible Fire TV or Echo Show, you can ask Alexa, “Alexa, find my remote,” or use the Remote Finder button in the Fire TV app when the paired device is a Fire TV. The remote’s speaker rings for up to five minutes, or until you press a button. Amazon says ringing may take up to 30 seconds to begin. The Fire TV app’s Remote Finder icon is not available when the remote is paired to an Echo Show.

- “Alexa, find my remote.” - Use a device with Alexa, the Alexa app or Fire TV app and Alexa Voice Remote Pro will emit a ring. No searching cushions.
- Backlit for your convenience - Navigate movie night with a motion-activated backlight that illuminates buttons in dimly-lit rooms.
- Two customizable buttons - Create your own shortcuts to favorite channels, apps, or any Alexa commands.
- Dedicated headphone button - A new shortcut to the on-screen Bluetooth menu that lets you pair your wireless headphones fast.
- Integrated TV controls - Control power, volume, plus surf live TV with dedicated channel buttons all from one remote.
The finder is conditional rather than a general-purpose tracker. Amazon’s support instructions require the remote and paired device to be registered to the same account, within 30 feet (10 meters), and the paired device to be powered on. For Fire TV Stick models, Amazon specifies using a dedicated power source with a compatible 5V, 1A adapter and cable. See Amazon’s Remote Finder instructions for setup and requirements.
Customizable buttons
The two programmable buttons can be assigned shortcuts for favorite apps, channels or Alexa actions, including routines. Amazon’s support instructions say to hold the button you want to configure for five seconds or set it up through Fire TV settings, then follow the on-screen prompts. Shortcuts are unavailable in Child profiles. See Amazon’s instructions for customizing the remote.

Motion-activated backlighting
Amazon says the buttons illuminate when the remote is picked up in low-light conditions. That may help when using the remote in a dark room, but Amazon’s published information does not establish how bright the lights are, how quickly they activate or how they affect battery life.
Does it work with your Fire TV?
Amazon lists support across many Fire TV streaming players and televisions, but compatibility depends on the exact model and generation. Its guide names Fire TV Cube generations 1 through 3; various Fire TV Stick models, including 4K, 4K Max, HD, Lite and listed standard generations; the 4K Plus and 4K Select; and the third-generation Fire TV pendant. It also lists Fire TV Omni and Omni QLED families, Fire TV 2-Series and 4-Series, specified 2024 Ember Mini-LED/Omni Mini-LED models, and 2025 Ember QLED/Omni QLED, Ember 4-Series/Fire TV 4-Series and Ember 2-Series/Fire TV 2-Series families.

Using it with Echo Show
Amazon lists Echo Show 15, Echo Show 15 (2nd Generation) and Echo Show 21 as compatible. On those displays, the remote navigates apps and services within the Fire TV experience; it does not control Echo Show widgets or other skills and services. The Echo Show pairing option also does not provide the Fire TV app’s Remote Finder icon.

Is the Pro better than a standard Fire TV remote?
The choice depends on whether you will use its specific additions. This comparison covers the stated feature differences; it does not assess unmeasured comfort, responsiveness or longevity.
| Consideration | Alexa Voice Remote Pro | Standard remote included with Fire TV |
|---|---|---|
| Finding a misplaced remote | Built-in speaker rings when finder requirements are met. | Remote Finder feature not stated in the cited Amazon sources. |
| Controls in a dim room | Amazon says buttons are motion-backlit in low light. | Backlighting not stated in the cited Amazon sources. |
| Programmable shortcuts | Two customizable buttons for supported apps, channels and Alexa actions. | Customizable buttons not stated in the cited Amazon sources. |
| Compatibility | Check the exact device against Amazon’s model list. | Not compared in the cited Amazon sources. |
The Pro is most compelling for someone who regularly searches for a misplaced remote or wants the shortcuts and illuminated buttons. If those features would rarely be used, the evidence here does not establish a reason to replace a working basic remote.

What this review can—and cannot—establish
Amazon’s published materials establish the advertised features, setup conditions and named compatible devices. They do not establish independent measurements of button response, ergonomics, illumination, battery life, durability or real-world reliability. Treat the feature descriptions as Amazon’s claims, not as results from hands-on testing.
