AION 2 is a faction-based MMORPG built around choosing between the Elyos and Asmodians, exploring a large world on foot, in flight and underwater, and fighting with a class-specific combat style. Before starting, know that its launch dates and available content differ by region, the published class list is dated, and progression rules can change with live-service updates.
What AION 2 is—and when it launched
AION 2 is NCSoft’s follow-up to AION, with two opposing factions and exploration-led, class-based combat. It did not have one worldwide launch date: NCSoft announced service in Korea and Taiwan for November 19, 2025, while the official Japan site says service launched October 5, 2026. Those dates do not establish availability in other regions. Check the official service information for your location before planning to play.
NCSoft’s June 2025 announcement described the game world as 36 times larger than the original AION. That is the publisher’s comparison, not an independently measured figure. The same announcement described more than 200 dungeons; it does not mean every dungeon is currently open to new players or available in every region.
Choose a faction for its story and world
The two factions are Elyos and Asmodians. NCSoft’s June 2025 announcement said they begin in separate regions, with the story moving toward large-scale Realm-versus-Realm conflict. The official teaser presents this as a “Tale of Two Worlds.” The available official descriptions do not establish that choosing a faction locks every later social or group activity, so do not assume that without checking current regional rules.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Expect active combat and exploration
NCSoft’s early feature descriptions emphasize manual combat, hit confirmation and no auto-combat. These are the developer’s claims about the design, not an independent assessment of how responsive the controls feel. If you prefer games that automate fighting or progression, this stated direction may not suit you.
Flight and underwater movement are also central to the game’s exploration pitch. At launch, Executive Producer Seungwook Baek described AION 2 as a world where players can “walk, fly, and swim across everything you see.” That is promotional language; it should not be read as a guarantee that every surface or area is traversable.

Classes: use the published roles as a starting point, not a current roster
NCSoft’s June 2025 content announcement introduced eight classes. The roles below reflect that dated overview, not a complete or necessarily current character-creation list.
| Class | Advertised focus in NCSoft’s June 2025 overview |
|---|---|
| Gladiator | Powerful area attacks |
| Templar | Tanking |
| Assassin | Precision melee |
| Marksman | Long-range scouting |
| Sorcerer | High burst magic damage |
| Spiritmaster | Solo play |
| Cleric | Healing, with improved damage capabilities |
| Chanter | Versatile support and multiplayer utility |
NCSoft announced Brawler in July 2026 as a front-line class that uses gauntlets and combo-based charges. Its update also granted every player one free character slot. The available announcements do not provide a complete current roster or a balanced comparison of class strength, difficulty or beginner-friendliness. Before committing, review the class options shown in your current regional character-creation screen.

As a broad way to narrow the choice, think about the responsibility you want in a group: tanking, melee or ranged damage, healing, support, or a class whose published pitch emphasizes solo play. The role descriptions are not enough to establish which class is easiest or strongest.
Progression and dungeons change with updates
NCSoft’s July 6, 2026 update raised the level cap to 50 and added the Morheim and Eltnen regions, progression activities called Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds and Monoliths, new equipment categories, and expanded Stigma skill enhancement. These are patch-specific details, not a permanent leveling route.

In that same update, NCSoft said Citadel of the Fallen Daeva and Abyssal Horn Den required level 50 and a minimum item level of 3,500. The announcement also expanded Expedition and Transcendence parties to five players and Sanctuary parties to ten. Check the live in-game requirements before attempting a dungeon; later updates or regional differences may have changed them.
The official Japan teaser lists Expedition dungeons for groups of up to five, including Krao Cave, Urugugu Canyon, Fire Temple and Draupnir. That listing does not establish that those dungeons, party limits or entry conditions apply in every region or remain unchanged.

Newcomer support is conditional
The July 2026 NCSoft update introduced a Sprout Badge for eligible new and returning players. The badge could remain active for up to 30 days or until specified combat-power and item-level conditions were reached. The same update described optional paid support packages, so not every progression aid was free. Eligibility and rules are time-sensitive; check the current notice in your region rather than assuming the badge or package terms still apply.
What to check before installing or making a character
The official announcements cited here do not establish current access in every country, supported PC or mobile platforms, system requirements, account setup, or current monetization terms. They also do not provide a reliable beginner quest sequence or current class-selection recommendation. Confirm those details through the official service information for your region before downloading or choosing a character.
