Organizations are using AI-enabled tools at different points in hiring: to find candidates, screen applications, coordinate interviews, assess skills, check backgrounds and integrate talent platforms across countries. Eight reported deployments show what those tools did in practice—and what the outcome figures do and do not establish. The results below come from AIHR’s case roundup, whose publication date is not stated, and should be treated as reported case-study results rather than independent proof that a tool caused a change.

Eight deployments across the hiring journey

The cases span different roles, hiring volumes and technologies, so their figures are not directly comparable. The table records the outcomes as reported by the source; the descriptions below explain the workflow behind each case.

Organization Hiring task Reported outcome and attribution
BrightSpring Health Candidate sourcing, matching and outreach AIHR reports 281,740 candidates reviewed, an 83% “qualifier” rate and a 194% increase in email response or engagement, citing a hireEZ case. The roundup does not define “qualifier” or specify the engagement calculation.
Thrive Candidate screening and structured interviews AIHR reports an 80% reduction in time to hire, a 30% increase in new-hire quality and 50% greater hiring-manager confidence, citing Ribbon.ai. The roundup does not state the measurement basis for these measures.
Animal-welfare organization (not named in the accessible case) Job-ad posting and niche sourcing AIHR reports 34% lower overall recruitment spending, 150% more qualified applications and a 46% reduction in cost per application within six months, citing NAS Recruitment Innovation and Joveo.
T-Mobile Job-ad language recommendations AIHR reports 17% more female applicants and five fewer days to fill, citing Textio. These are reported alongside the language-analytics deployment; they do not establish that wording assistance alone caused either change.
Walmart Skills-based assessment for large-scale hiring AIHR reports time to hire falling from 14 to seven days and retail-operations attrition dropping to single digits, citing Vervoe. The roundup describes the change as a 50% reduction in time to hire.
Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants Background-screening workflow AIHR reports screening completion changing from seven to ten days to one day or less, citing Checkr. Kimpton was described as handling roughly 5,000–6,000 checks annually.
Chipotle Candidate questions and interview scheduling AIHR reports application-to-start time falling from 12 days to four and application completion rising from 50% to 85%, citing Paradox. The roundup characterizes the time change as a 75% decrease.
MM Group Talent platform integration during acquisition AIHR reports a 42% decrease in time to hire and an approximately 30% increase in applicant rate. The platform deployment covered 3,500-plus employees across 22 sites, 11 countries and seven languages; it was not an isolated evaluation of a recruiting model.

BrightSpring Health: finding and contacting candidates

BrightSpring shifted from relying primarily on Indeed and employee referrals to hireEZ for AI-assisted sourcing, applicant matching and automated outreach. The case illustrates a workflow that starts before an application arrives: a tool can help surface potential candidates and initiate contact, while recruiters still need to determine whether a person meets role requirements and wants to proceed.

Thrive: screening and structured interviews

The career-transition services firm adopted Ribbon.ai for screening, assessment automation and structured interviews. In this kind of deployment, the system can support consistent early-stage steps; the reported case does not explain how quality or confidence were defined, so those results should not be treated as standardized measures.

Animal-welfare organization: automating job distribution

NAS Recruitment Innovation used Joveo to replace manual job postings, reach niche publisher networks for specialized roles such as licensed veterinarians, and monitor recruitment cost and performance. The accessible AIHR account does not name the organization, so its identity cannot be established from that source.

T-Mobile: reviewing job-ad wording

T-Mobile integrated Textio language analytics and recommendations into recruiting job postings. This is a writing-support use of AI rather than automated candidate selection: it can flag or suggest language, but the resulting job ad and hiring process remain organizational choices.

Walmart: assessing job-related skills

For high-volume hiring of around 17,000 new associates annually, Walmart used Vervoe video prompts, scenario tasks and AI grading in place of manual résumé screening. The case describes automated assessment as part of screening, not as a substitute for final hiring judgment.

  • Refined rubber suspension and new coating materials keep handling noise reduced to a minimum

Kimpton: speeding background-check administration

Kimpton selected Checkr for a background-screening workflow that included AI-powered criminal background screening, an analytics dashboard and a mobile candidate portal. Background checks can have serious consequences for applicants; the case report does not establish that this approach is legally suitable in every jurisdiction or that it resolves fairness, privacy or adverse-action obligations.

Chipotle: answering questions and scheduling interviews

Chipotle deployed Paradox’s conversational assistant Ava Cado through an integration with Workday. The assistant engaged candidates in English, Spanish, French and German, handling candidate questions and interview scheduling as part of the application journey.

MM Group: integrating talent operations across countries

MM Group deployed Eightfold’s talent platform in the context of integrating employees after an acquisition and streamlining hiring. The case combines a broad organizational platform rollout with recruiting outcomes; it should not be read as a controlled test of one AI feature.

What these examples reveal about AI in recruiting

Most deployments automate or assist a specific step

The cases do not describe one all-purpose hiring system. Some tools recommend or rank candidates, some help write or distribute job ads, and others coordinate communication, assessments or checks. The distinction matters: automating scheduling is not the same as allowing a model to screen people out, and an AI recommendation is not necessarily an automated decision.

Reported efficiency is not the same as demonstrated causation

AIHR’s figures are secondary case reporting that cites vendor or customer examples. They use different baselines, role mixes, time periods and definitions; several metrics, such as “quality,” “confidence” and “qualifier,” are not defined in the accessible account. Treat them as signals about what organizations report, not as head-to-head vendor results or proof that AI alone produced the outcome.

A separate example shows another possible use: Workday’s 1 August 2024 announcement says AdventHealth used HiredScore AI to hire more than 1,000 clinical candidates from its existing database in the first year and reduce hiring-manager decision time by 40%. The announcement quotes AdventHealth’s senior HR leader, so these are company-reported results, not an independent evaluation. It illustrates candidate rediscovery—surfacing people already in an employer’s database—rather than sourcing from the open market.

Candidate experience belongs beside recruiter productivity

BCG’s 2025 article reports that 52% of candidates in its survey of 90,000 people across 160 countries said they would decline an otherwise attractive offer after some type of negative recruiting experience. Faster processing is not a success if candidates cannot get help, understand what is happening or complete the process accessibly.

BCG also reported that 70% of surveyed companies already using AI or generative AI in HR used it for content creation, 70% for administrative tasks, and 54% were implementing or had implemented candidate matching. In a separate BCG 2024 CHRO survey, reported in 2025, 70% of companies experimenting with AI or generative AI said they were doing so within HR, and talent acquisition was HR’s top use case. BCG does not provide the sample details for that excerpt. Its 2025 article also says 92% of firms reported seeing benefits and more than 10% reported productivity gains above 30%; these are survey findings, not forecasts for every employer.

How to assess an AI recruiting deployment

Compare systems by the work they actually do and by the safeguards around that work, not only by a vendor’s headline efficiency number. Before procurement, establish a baseline and decide what a successful and acceptable outcome means for both the employer and candidates.

  • Hiring stage and task: Specify whether the tool sources, ranks, assesses, communicates, schedules or checks. Identify any point where it can reject, deprioritize or materially influence a candidate.
  • Workforce and role fit: Test with the actual job types, applicant volumes, languages and process conditions in which the system will be used.
  • Automation versus recommendation: Document what the tool decides, what it suggests, and which decisions remain with trained staff.
  • Evidence and measurement: Ask for metric definitions, denominators, comparison periods, role mix, candidate outcomes and results broken down across relevant groups. Compare like with like rather than importing a case-study percentage as a forecast.
  • Accessibility and fairness: Check how candidates with disabilities can request reasonable adjustments, whether non-digital routes are needed, and whether the system performs differently for relevant groups.
  • Correction and recourse: Make it clear how applicants or staff can challenge inaccurate information or seek human review, and who is accountable for resolving the issue.

UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology guidance, published 25 March 2024, recommends defining a clear purpose before procurement, considering how a technology fits existing processes, training staff, and maintaining effective human oversight. It advises testing performance in the buyer’s real-world environment and against the protected-characteristic makeup of the people affected before scaling; carrying out impact assessments before procurement and again before deployment; and planning reasonable adjustments for disabled applicants. The guidance sets out principles of safety, security and robustness; transparency and explainability; fairness; accountability and governance; and contestability and redress. It is government guidance, not legal advice.

BCG likewise recommends candidate-first design, explaining where AI is used and what role humans play, auditing for bias, and training recruiters. In practice, oversight needs to be meaningful: reviewers should have enough context, authority and time to question an output rather than simply approve it.

Bottom line

AI is already being used across recruiting, from candidate discovery and job-ad support to assessment, scheduling and background-screening workflows. The eight cases make the range concrete, but their reported outcomes cannot identify a universally best tool or predict results at another employer. A sound deployment starts with a bounded hiring problem, measures both operational and candidate outcomes, tests in the intended environment, and preserves accountable human review.
