Gemini’s Call for me is the closest match to an AI assistant that handles a business call on your behalf—but Google currently lists it as a limited preview with strict device, subscription, and US availability requirements. Siri can place ordinary calls, and iPhone Hold Assist can wait for a person to return from hold; neither Apple feature is documented as conducting a business conversation for you.
What “making a call for you” can mean
There is an important difference between an assistant that dials and one that speaks with a business. With ordinary voice dialing, the assistant connects the call and you do the talking. With an autonomous business-call feature, the assistant can ask questions or handle a routine task while you monitor or interrupt it.
Gemini offers both kinds of calling on Android, but they are separate features with different requirements. Other options discussed here have narrower purposes.

Gemini offers ordinary calling and Call for me
Gemini can place a regular call on Android
Gemini can use an Android device’s Phone app to call a contact, business, or phone number. This starts the call; it does not mean Gemini will conduct the conversation. Google lists an Android phone or tablet, an active mobile plan, the Gemini mobile app, and phone permission for the Google app among the requirements. Contact syncing and permissions can affect which contacts Gemini can call. This integration is not available in Gemini on the web or in Google Messages, and Google says not to use it for emergency services. Call for me can handle certain routine business calls
Google describes Call for me as a Gemini feature that can call businesses to ask about opening hours, product availability, or quotes; book, confirm, or manage appointments and reservations; navigate phone menus; and wait on hold.
Before the call starts, you review the task, the number, and the information to be shared, then tap Call for me. You can monitor the transcript or live audio, cancel before connection, or take over the call. Afterward, Gemini provides a summary; a transcript and recording are available in the Phone app’s call history. Calls use the device’s mobile network and phone number, and standard carrier rates apply.

Availability is the major limitation
Google’s current eligibility page lists adults aged 18 or older in the US, a Pixel 11 with a US SIM, a Google AI subscription, the Phone by Google Public Beta, the latest Gemini app, and English as the device language. Google says rollout is gradual, calls are currently limited to US numbers, and daily call limits apply. Meeting the listed device requirements does not guarantee that the feature has reached your account.

Google says every Call for me call starts with Gemini identifying itself as a Google AI assistant calling on your behalf on a recorded line and stating your name. The feature cannot call emergency services, make payments or other financial transactions, share sensitive information such as financial details, passwords, health information, or Social Security numbers, or make telemarketing calls. Check important outcomes yourself: a Gemini summary is not proof that a booking or request was completed correctly.

Google Search has a separate business-calling feature
Google Search’s AI calling is distinct from Gemini Call for me. In an announcement dated July 16, 2025, Google described Search calling local businesses to collect pricing and availability—for example, for pet grooming or dry cleaning—and returning a range of options. The announcement said rollout was starting for US Search users, with higher limits for Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers. Businesses can control participation through their Business Profile settings. This is a search-and-compare task, not evidence that the Gemini mobile preview is available to all Search users.
Which option fits your task?
- You want to call someone and speak yourself: Gemini’s Android Phone app integration or Siri’s voice dialing can start a call.
- You want an assistant to ask a business routine questions or handle a reservation: Gemini Call for me is the closest documented match, if your account and device are eligible.
- You want local prices or availability compared: Google Search’s announced AI calling is designed for that narrower inquiry, subject to its availability and business participation.
- You are calling from an iPhone and want help with hold time: Hold Assist can alert you when a live agent answers; it is not the same as having Siri conduct the call.
Availability and behavior can change. Check Google’s Call for me eligibility page before relying on it, especially if you are considering a phone purchase. A Pixel 11 alone does not satisfy Google’s other listed requirements or guarantee access.

Are there other widely available alternatives?
The official product information cited here does not establish a broadly available non-Google consumer assistant that makes comparable autonomous outbound business calls. That does not rule out a niche service, beta, or newer launch. Apple’s documented features cover dialing and hold assistance, not a comparable agent-led business conversation. Samsung’s surfaced official material is a legacy Galaxy S9-era Bixby manual, not evidence of a current agentic calling feature.
