How to approach combat and hero upgrades
Build a functional team, not a supposedly universal lineup
Choose heroes that work together for the encounter and game mode, then adjust the formation when a team is not succeeding. The available sources do not establish current hero rankings, skill-combination rules, or mode-specific counters, so a single “best team” recommendation would be unreliable. Treat lineup advice as dependent on your roster, the mode, and the game’s current balance.
Put upgrades into heroes you actually use
A Lilith-hosted guide recommends prioritizing equipment for heroes in active use rather than spreading gear indiscriminately. It historically favors boots and weapons before hats and chest pieces, and discusses faction equipment and upgrade stones. These are dated recommendations, not a guaranteed current upgrade order: inspect the equipment and available upgrades in your version, and prioritize what benefits your active team.

Hero levels, ascension, and equipment all contribute to progression, but exact thresholds and the best sequence depend on the current game systems and your account. Check the hero and equipment screens before spending materials, particularly when an upgrade would consume a resource needed elsewhere. The guide’s concise description of the first route is: “You get labyrinth coins as you clear the Arcane Labyrinth.” That explains where to earn them, not whether a particular item is a good buy today.
Use a purchase check before spending
- Identify the source and recurrence. Confirm which activity awards the currency and how often you can earn it in your current version.
- Check for competing goals. If a limited-time exchange is active or expected, determine whether that currency is required before using it on ordinary store items.
- Match the item to your account. Ask whether the hero, gear, or material helps the team you use now, rather than buying solely because it appears in the shop.
- Verify the live details. Confirm the item, price, event window, and progression requirements in-game; older guides cannot establish the current offer.
Why older store priorities need caution
AFK Global’s Store Guide and Beginner’s Guide are historical references, as is Lilith’s forum guide. Their recommendations do not always agree, including on saving currencies for Dimensional exchanges versus buying ordinary store items or pursuing other hero priorities. Use them for background on the kinds of decisions players face, not as proof of current prices, chapter gates, best values, or purchase orders.
Are in-app purchases required?
The Google Play listing marks the app as offering in-app purchases; that does not make spending necessary to understand combat or manage earned currencies. Lilith’s official payment center lists AFK Arena. The cited pages do not establish a third-party partnership or specific offer, so use the game’s own current purchase information if you choose to spend.
