Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe ADATA LEGEND 970 PRO is a PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 2280 SSD that ADATA rates for sequential reads of up to 14,000 MB/s—often rounded to 14GB/s—and sequential writes of up to 11,000 MB/s. Those are manufacturer maximum specifications, not guaranteed speeds or independent benchmark results. Whether the drive is a fit depends on your system’s M.2 support and the clearance available for its built-in fan and heatsink.
What does “14GB/s” mean for the LEGEND 970 PRO?
ADATA’s LEGEND 970 PRO datasheet lists maximum sequential read speed of 14,000 MB/s and maximum sequential write speed of 11,000 MB/s. The title’s “14GB/s” is rounded shorthand for the read figure: it is not the drive’s write rating.
These are vendor specifications for sequential transfers, not measured results from an independent test. A maximum specification does not establish the speed you will see in a particular computer or workload. ADATA publishes the figures in its LEGEND 970 PRO datasheet.
What kind of SSD is it, and which capacities are listed?
This is an M.2 2280 SSD using a PCIe Gen5 x4 interface and NVMe 2.0. ADATA lists three capacity options in its July 2024 datasheet:

| Capacity | ADATA model number |
|---|---|
| 1TB | SLEG-970P-1TCI |
| 2TB | SLEG-970P-2TCI |
| 4TB | SLEG-970P-4TCI |
These are the capacities and model numbers stated in ADATA’s July 2024 LEGEND 970 PRO datasheet. Check the exact model when comparing listings so you do not mistake the PRO for the separate, non-PRO LEGEND 970.
Will it work in your motherboard or laptop?
First check the device’s specifications or manual for an M.2 slot that supports PCIe 5.0 x4. The drive’s M.2 2280 format identifies its size, but the product datasheet does not confirm compatibility with every motherboard or laptop. A PCIe 5.0 x4 platform is the relevant match if you are buying in pursuit of the advertised interface performance; do not assume that any M.2 slot offers that support.

Also check the space around the slot. The LEGEND 970 PRO includes a cooling assembly with dual-layer aluminum fins and a micro fan. ADATA says the fan is powered directly from the M.2 slot. A motherboard’s own M.2 cover or a laptop’s enclosure may not leave enough room, so verify physical clearance before installation rather than assuming the drive will fit beneath existing hardware. ADATA describes the cooling design in its 2024 Computex catalogue.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should you assess the active cooling claims?
ADATA says the drive’s dual-layer aluminum cooling fins and micro fan are intended to support long-term stability. Its 2024 Computex catalogue also claims that the active-cooling design lowers temperatures by 20% compared with fanless heatsinks. That percentage is ADATA’s comparison, not an independent test result established here, so treat it as a manufacturer claim rather than proof of how the SSD will perform in your system.

What should you verify before buying?
- Interface: Confirm that your target system has an M.2 slot with PCIe 5.0 x4 support if the advertised interface performance matters to you.
- Physical clearance: Check that the included heatsink and fan fit around the slot and do not conflict with a motherboard cover or laptop enclosure.
- Capacity and exact model: Choose among the listed 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB versions, and match the model number to the capacity.
- Warranty and endurance: The reviewed PRO datasheets do not state a warranty duration or TBW endurance rating. Confirm current terms for your region with ADATA; do not assume specifications for the non-PRO LEGEND 970 apply.
- Independent performance evidence: The cited materials give ADATA’s specifications, but do not provide independent benchmark results for sustained workloads. Look for testing that matches the capacity and workload you care about before relying on a real-world speed comparison.
