Acer announced the Predator Helios 18 AI (PH18-I71) on May 29, 2026, with configurations up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. Its keyboard feature is Predator MagKey 4.0: Acer says supported models have magnetic mechanical switches with swappable WASD and arrow keys. That does not mean the entire keyboard is hot-swappable, or that every configuration includes the feature.
What Acer announced
Acer positioned the 18-inch Predator Helios 18 AI as the flagship of its Computex 2026 gaming lineup. The announced model code is PH18-I71. Its top configuration options reach an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, 256 GB of memory, and 6 TB of storage; these are ceilings, not specifications shared by every retail configuration. How the swappable keys work
Predator MagKey 4.0 is Acer’s magnetic mechanical switch system. On supported models, Acer identifies the WASD and arrow keys as swappable and describes a tactile mechanical press with 0.7 mm actuation. The supported-key wording matters: Acer does not establish that every key can be changed, that every PH18-I71 configuration has MagKey 4.0, or that replacement switch packs are sold separately. Acer’s US product page also warns that specifications can vary by model and region.
Check the exact regional model number and the included accessories before assuming a particular unit has swappable keys or comes with particular key items. For example, Acer lists MagKey keyboard features and Predator Mag Key, MagSpeed, and MagClick items in the package contents for US SKU PH18-73-96CE. That SKU is distinct from the announced PH18-I71 model code; its listing should not be treated as proof that all PH18-I71 configurations ship with the same accessories. Display and other announced features
Acer describes an 18-inch Mini LED WQUXGA dual-mode display that switches between 4K at 120 Hz and Full HD at 240 Hz. The choice is between higher resolution and a higher refresh rate, rather than both modes at once. Acer also lists up to 1,000 nits in HDR mode and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Confirm the panel specification for the exact SKU and region before treating those figures as features of a particular retail unit.
Other announced hardware includes two 6th Gen Predator AeroBlade 3D fans, vector heat pipes, liquid-metal thermal grease, Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7, Killer Ethernet, and two Thunderbolt 5 ports. Acer claims up to 20% more airflow than generic plastic fans; its product page says that comparison is based on synthetic modeling at equal decibel levels, not an independent test. Availability, price, and model numbers
Acer Germany listed expected availability for PH18-I71 in Q4 2026 on June 23, 2026, and notes that specifications, prices, and availability can vary by region. The German announcement is the stated timing for that model.
A separate US retail listing for PH18-73-96CE showed the configuration in stock when accessed on October 4, 2026, at a sale price of $4,299.99 and regular price of $4,599.99. That listing specified a Core Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5090, 18-inch 3840×2400 display, 64 GB RAM, and 4 TB SSD. These are details for that US SKU and a time-specific store snapshot—not a global launch price or the announced PH18-I71 configuration. Check the Acer US store listing for current status and price.

What to verify before buying
- Match the full model or part number, not just the Predator Helios 18 AI name.
- Check the specific CPU, GPU, memory, and storage; Acer’s headline specifications describe options up to stated limits.
- Confirm the panel’s resolution and refresh-rate modes for that SKU.
- Look for explicit MagKey 4.0 and supported swappable WASD and arrow keys on the regional listing, then check which accessories are included.
- Use region-specific availability and pricing, and verify them at purchase time.
Acer’s published specifications establish what it advertises, but they do not provide independent comparative benchmarks. A performance ranking against other gaming laptops therefore needs separate testing evidence.
