On published specifications, Samsung’s 990 PRO 4TB is faster on sequential transfers and carries a higher stated endurance limit than Acer’s FA200 4TB. Both are PCIe Gen 4 x4 M.2 2280 NVMe 2.0 drives. If the Samsung costs substantially more where you live, the FA200 may be the better buy; compare current prices for the exact models before deciding. These are manufacturer ratings, not independent head-to-head test results.
How the 4TB models compare
| Specification | Acer FA200 4TB | Samsung 990 PRO 4TB |
|---|---|---|
| Form factor and interface | M.2 2280; PCIe Gen 4 x4; NVMe 2.0, according to Acer | M.2 2280; PCIe Gen 4 x4; NVMe 2.0, according to Samsung UK |
| Maximum sequential read | 7,100 MB/s, Acer Storage/BIWIN specification PDF dated April 2026 | 7,450 MB/s, Samsung UK product specification page accessed October 7, 2026 |
| Maximum sequential write | 6,100 MB/s, Acer Storage/BIWIN specification PDF dated April 2026 | 6,900 MB/s, Samsung UK product specification page accessed October 7, 2026 |
| Endurance and warranty | 2,000 TBW or five years, whichever comes first, according to Acer’s April 2026 specification PDF and product page | 2,400 TBW or five years, according to Samsung’s UK product page; check local warranty terms |
| Controller, NAND and cache details | Not stated in the cited Acer materials | Samsung V-NAND TLC, in-house controller and 4GB low-power DDR4 SDRAM cache, according to Samsung UK |
Manufacturer ratings can change, and real performance depends on the system and configuration. Samsung explicitly notes that actual performance may vary. The figures above show a specification difference, not a promise that every task will be proportionally faster on the 990 PRO.
Which drive has the stronger performance specifications?
The Samsung 990 PRO has higher published maximum sequential read and write ratings: 7,450/6,900 MB/s versus the FA200’s 7,100/6,100 MB/s. That may matter for workloads involving large sequential transfers, but the ratings alone do not establish how much faster either drive will feel in a particular PC, laptop or console.
No independent head-to-head benchmark results are established here. Treat the manufacturer maximums as spec-sheet figures rather than measured comparative results, and do not assume they predict a matching improvement in gaming, everyday computing or application load times.

- TRANFORM YOUR PC: Insane speeds up to 7,300MB/s (1TB - 4TB models) deliver top-tier performance with ridiculously short load times for your gaming PC or workstation — for the elite experience you’ve been waiting for.
- MORE ROOM FOR MORE GAMES: Capacities up to 8TB built with SANDISK TLC 3D NAND, means you get to keep more games at the ready — and get into the action even faster.
Which has the higher endurance limit?
For the 4TB models, Acer lists 2,000 TBW and a five-year limit, with the warranty ending when either the stated time or total bytes written limit is reached, whichever comes first. Samsung’s UK page lists 2,400 TBW and a five-year limited warranty. That is a higher published TBW figure for Samsung, but its cited warranty information is UK-specific; confirm the terms for the country where you will buy the drive.
Is the Samsung worth paying more for?
There is no verified current price comparison here, so neither drive can be called cheaper or better value without checking your local listings. Compare the exact 4TB variants and calculate the price per usable terabyte. If the price difference is small and you value Samsung’s higher published speed and endurance ratings, the 990 PRO is the stronger spec-sheet choice. If the FA200 is meaningfully less expensive and meets your needs, it may offer better value.

Samsung announced the 4TB 990 PRO on September 6, 2023. Its launch announcement described the drive as a solution for gamers and creative professionals; that is Samsung’s promotional positioning, not independent evidence of superiority over the FA200. Read Samsung’s announcement.
Check compatibility before buying
Both drives use the M.2 2280 form factor and PCIe Gen 4 x4/NVMe 2.0 interface, but those shared specifications do not guarantee compatibility with every host. Acer identifies PS5 as a use case, while Samsung identifies client PCs and game consoles; neither claim confirms fit in every specific model.
