The Acer FA200 4TB was listed at $479.99 in an Amazon-linked price widget updated October 7, 2026, or about 12 cents per decimal gigabyte. That listing does not establish that it is a current Prime Day deal or the cheapest 4TB SSD. A historical Prime Day comparison also does not support the headline’s “50% less” claim: in October 2025, the FA200 was $187 while the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB was $320.

What the $480 price does—and does not—show

The FPS Review’s page displayed an Amazon-linked price of $479.99 and said its price widget was updated October 7, 2026 at 5:11 a.m. That is a dated listing observation, not proof of a Prime Day promotion, a market-wide low, or a price available to every shopper. Check the retailer listing and the deal calendar before treating it as a live offer.

Using the common decimal-capacity convention, $480 divided by 4,000 GB is exactly $0.12 per GB. At $479.99, the result is approximately $0.120 per GB. It is therefore more accurate to call it about 12 cents per GB than “less than $0.12 per GB.” A drive’s addressable capacity may appear lower when a device reports it in binary units.

Does it cost 50% less than the Samsung 990 Pro?

Not in the documented historical comparison. TechRadar’s October 8, 2025 Prime Day coverage listed the Acer FA200 4TB at $187, down from $220, and the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB at $320, down from $375. The $133 difference meant the Acer cost about 41.6% less than the Samsung’s sale price—roughly 42%, not 50%. These are historical prices and do not establish how the drives compare at today’s prices.

No current Samsung price is established here, so a present-day percentage comparison would be misleading. Compare current prices for the same capacity and region rather than carrying forward the 2025 discount.

What the Acer FA200 4TB offers

Acer specifies the FA200 as a PCIe Gen 4 x4, NVMe 2.0 M.2 2280 drive, with capacities up to 4TB. For the 4TB model, Acer lists maximum sequential speeds of 7,100 MB/s read and 6,100 MB/s write. Acer’s broader product copy mentions speeds up to 7,200 MB/s, but the capacity-specific table gives the lower read figure for 4TB.

Acer Predator GM9000 4TB SSD, PCIe Gen5x4 NVMe M.2 SSD, Up to 14,000MB/s, SLC + DRAM Cache, PCIe 5.0 Internal Solid State Drive, Compatible with Desktops Laptop PC AI Work
  • Upgraded Performance: PCIe 5.0 SSD has performance doubled compared to PCIe 4.0. It delivers blazing-fast speed, a maximum read speed of 14000 MB/s and a maximum write speed of 13000 MB/s.

Acer lists compatibility with desktops, laptops, and PS5. The FA200’s single-sided M.2 2280 design can help with clearance, but compatibility still depends on the device: check its M.2 length, interface, available slot, and physical clearance before buying. Acer says the drive uses a DRAM-less design with Host Memory Buffer (HMB) and an SLC cache.

The FPS Review describes the 4TB model as QLC-based and reports a 2,000 TBW endurance rating and five-year warranty. Those are review-reported product details; check Acer’s warranty terms for the product and region you intend to buy.

Should you buy the FA200 or pay more for a 990 Pro?

The FA200 can make sense as a cost-saving drive for extra fast storage when its current price is meaningfully lower and its performance suits the workload. Tom’s Hardware found it adequate in sequential testing but behind the 990 Pro for reads, and recommended considering it when the price saving is worthwhile. Peak sequential ratings alone do not describe performance in every workload, especially sustained writing.
