How do you unlock aircraft in Ace Combat 8?
In Campaign Mode, earn MRP by completing missions and spend it to unlock additional fighter jets. Bandai Namco describes MRP as in-game currency earned in missions in its official campaign walkthrough. The publisher does not provide a complete public table of aircraft prices and unlock prerequisites on the pages reviewed, so exact costs and requirements should not be assumed.

What is MRP?
MRP is the campaign currency used to buy additional aircraft. Keep it distinct from ACE PASS XP and online-mode rewards, which belong to ACE COMBAT ONLINE progression.
How do aircraft upgrades and loadouts work?
Before a mission, select an aircraft, choose one of its available special weapons, and combine upgrade parts. Bandai Namco says parts can be freely combined to tailor a fighter jet to a mission; its walkthrough and gameplay guidance point players to the mission objective, briefing, and personal playstyle when choosing a setup.

- Read the briefing. Use the objective and strategic information to decide what kind of aircraft and tactics fit the sortie.
- Choose a role. The official aircraft roster labels aircraft by role. For example, it lists the MiG-21BIS Fishbed as a Fighter, the Rafale M as Multirole, and the carrier-based A-6E Intruder as an Attacker.
- Select a special weapon. Pick from the options available for your aircraft with the mission objective in mind.
- Combine upgrade parts. Adjust the aircraft for the sortie rather than relying on a single setup for every mission.
These are decision factors, not a prescribed build: the cited official guidance does not publish comparative performance figures, exact build recipes, or a universally best aircraft. Role labels are a useful starting point, not a substitute for checking the mission itself.
Do campaign aircraft unlocks carry over to multiplayer?
No. ACE COMBAT ONLINE is a multiplayer-only mode with progression and save data separate from Campaign Mode, according to Bandai Namco Europe’s multiplayer FAQ. Online aircraft are acquired through rewards earned in that mode, not by spending campaign MRP. The online roster includes Fighter, Attacker, Multirole Aircraft, and Electronic Warfare Aircraft roles; the FAQ says the roster is the same as Campaign Mode, but acquisition remains mode-specific.

How does ACE PASS fit in?
ACE PASS rewards are earned through pass XP in online mode. Bandai Namco Europe says pass updates are scheduled every two months, a cadence that may change. At launch, Bandai Namco announced that Premium ACE PASS PLUS included 30 immediate pass levels and a season-long reward track featuring aircraft skins, avatar costumes, and the playable ADFX-02 MORGAN –PIXY. That is launch-announcement information, not a guarantee about a later season; check the current season terms for its rewards.
How do I unlock the F-14A?
Bandai Namco Europe’s edition guide described the playable F-14A as a preorder bonus for orders placed before October 2, 2026. That cutoff has passed as of October 4, 2026, so a new purchase should not be assumed to include it. Bonus terms can vary by region; consult the official regional edition guide for applicable terms.

What should I check when comparing editions?
Compare the platform and format you need, the edition’s stated contents, and any regional or date limits. Bandai Namco Europe says the Standard Edition is available digitally or on physical disc for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in participating countries and retailers; availability depends on region and retailer.
The Joker Flight Pack is a collector product with the game, cosmetics, a 208-page ACES at WAR: A History 2029 artbook, and a 15-track, two-disc soundtrack vinyl set. The official guide describes it as an Official Store exclusive and, on that page, available only for Digital PC Steam: the Steam code is printed on a card delivered with the physical collectibles. Verify current regional availability with Bandai Namco before buying. The guide also listed a copy of ACE COMBAT ZERO: THE BELKAN WAR among the preorder bonuses subject to the same October 2, 2026 cutoff.
