The M6 adds Bluetooth play, sensors, and customization, while the slimmer M5 connects over USB-C and supports phone pass-through charging. Both were offered through Kickstarter at launch in October 2026, so campaign prices and shipping plans are time-sensitive.
How are the Abxylute M5 and M6 like the Xperia Play?
The resemblance is the sliding game-control design. Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play was a phone with a gamepad that slid out from its body. The M5 and M6 instead attach to a separate smartphone using a magnetic grip. Notebookcheck reported that the M5 concept was inspired by the Xperia Play: Notebookcheck.
That distinction matters: these controllers do not turn a phone into an Xperia Play in every respect. They add physical controls to a compatible phone, while the phone remains the device running the game, emulator, remote-play session, or cloud-gaming app.
What’s the difference between the Abxylute M5 and M6?
The M6 is the more versatile option, with wireless and wired connections plus additional controls and sensors. The M5 is a slim, wired-only design that avoids a separate controller battery and allows the phone to charge through it. Features and launch terms below are as described by Abxylute and the reporting; they are not independent hands-on test results.

Does the Abxylute M6 work wirelessly, and is the M5 wired?
M6: Bluetooth or USB-C
Yes. The M6 is described as supporting Bluetooth 5.3 wireless play as well as a wired USB-C connection. The controller’s 500 mAh battery is rated by Abxylute for up to 10 hours of gameplay; that figure is a manufacturer claim, not a verified runtime. The wired option gives buyers an alternative to Bluetooth when they prefer a cable connection.

M5: USB-C only
The M5 is wired over USB-C and does not include Bluetooth. It has no controller battery to recharge, and reporting says it supports pass-through charging for the connected phone. Its trade-off is a simpler, slim design rather than the M6’s wireless play and added sensors.
What controls and software features do they offer?
Abxylute describes the M6’s capacitive sticks, Hall Effect linear triggers, hair-trigger setting, six-axis gyro, and customizable Z button as part of its control set. The Z button can be assigned to L3/R3 or other actions, and the controller supports multi-step macros. The M5 keeps low-profile sliding sticks and dedicated L3/R3 buttons, but omits capacitive sticks and gyro control.

Both controllers are presented as working with Abxy, a companion app for launching games, emulators, remote play, and cloud gaming, as well as control customization. The M6 also supports touch mapping: assigning screen controls to physical buttons. That feature is not a universal compatibility guarantee; whether it works depends on the particular phone, game, and app support.
Will an M5 or M6 work with your phone and games?
Coverage describes Android and iPhone support and mentions NS, XInput, and PS modes, but does not provide a comprehensive list of supported phone models or games. Treat compatibility as device- and software-dependent rather than assured for every phone, emulator, streaming service, or game. Before buying, check the current Abxylute compatibility information and confirm that your intended games support the controller mode and any touch-mapping setup you plan to use.
