FNT Software’s FNT Command is enterprise software for documenting, planning and operating telecom, IT, data-center and hybrid infrastructure from a shared model. It is best understood as a vendor-neutral system of record that connects physical facilities with logical, virtual and service information—not simply as a room-layout tool.
What FNT Software and FNT Command are
FNT Software GmbH is headquartered in Ellwangen, Germany. Its principal platform, FNT Command, is aimed at communications service providers, enterprises, data-center operators and government organizations that need one dependable description of complex infrastructure.
The platform’s purpose is to keep infrastructure information accurate enough for planning and day-to-day decisions. That includes knowing what equipment exists, where it is installed, how it is connected, which capacity is available and which services depend on it.
“Data center managers and IT managers who want to be prepared for the future must be able to trust in the accurate and universal documentation of their IT landscape and data center infrastructure.”

What the platform can represent
FNT Command uses a common model rather than separate inventories for each technology domain. The documented scope includes:
| Infrastructure area | Examples of information represented |
|---|---|
| Sites and facilities | Locations, buildings, rooms and other physical spaces |
| Data-center environment | Racks, power, cooling and capacity-related resources |
| IT equipment | Physical and virtual IT assets |
| Networks and telecommunications | Network elements, connections and telecom infrastructure |
| Software and services | Applications, services and their relationships to underlying resources |
An open integration layer is part of the design. In practical terms, that allows an organization to connect FNT’s model with other operational systems instead of treating the platform as an isolated database. The available evidence does not establish a current list of connectors, APIs or supported products, so those details should be confirmed with FNT for a specific deployment.
Is FNT a DCIM platform?
Yes, FNT Command covers data-center infrastructure management, including facilities, racks, power, cooling, equipment and capacity. Its scope is broader than a traditional DCIM implementation because the same model also includes telecom, enterprise IT, networks, virtual resources, applications and services.

That breadth matters in hybrid environments. A company can relate a physical room and rack to the devices installed there, the network paths those devices use, the virtual resources running on them and the business or customer services delivered through them. The result is an infrastructure view that crosses the physical-versus-logical boundary.
How FNT supports hybrid-infrastructure management
One inventory across domains
Separate spreadsheets or product-specific inventories often disagree about ownership, location, connectivity and available capacity. FNT’s vendor-agnostic model is intended to provide a shared reference for facilities, IT and network teams.
Planning and capacity decisions
Because the model includes rooms, racks, power, cooling and assets, teams can use it to assess where equipment can be placed and what resources a change may consume. The supplied sources do not publish current planning algorithms, utilization benchmarks or automation limits.

Multi-tenant and service-provider use
FNT’s customer evidence includes service providers that must keep infrastructure and customer views separate while operating the same facilities. Multi-tenancy and SaaS flexibility were specifically cited in DataVita’s selection of FNT Command.
Integration and operational workflows
The platform can serve as a foundation for workflows, self-service and service assurance when integrated with surrounding systems. Colt DCS’s program eventually added DCIM, self-service, data-transformation and automated customer-notification capabilities. Those enhancements describe that customer’s program; they are not a guarantee that every capability is included in every FNT edition or deployment.

| Customer | Situation and selection | Reported scope or outcome |
|---|---|---|
| DataVita | Selected FNT Command in 2016 while operating colocation and cloud services and needing reliable service, uptime and low latency. | Covered 4,000 square meters of colocation space across two buildings; SaaS flexibility and multi-tenancy were key reasons for selection. |
| Colt DCS | Selected FNT in 2014 to replace a homegrown legacy inventory system. | Initial scope covered 14 data centers. A 2022 FNT case study says the program received five years of subsequent enhancements, including DCIM, self-service, data-transformation and automated customer notifications. |
FNT’s official case study, dated September 5, 2022, says more than 500 companies and public authorities use its solutions. That figure is the company’s published claim at that date, not a verified 2026 customer count.

FNT’s published scale figures—and their limits
A May 11, 2015 Data Center Knowledge profile reported more than 25,000 users since 1994, 240 employees and more than 220,000 managed data-center racks. These numbers describe FNT at the time of that profile. They should not be presented as current totals because no newer verified figures are established here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to evaluate FNT against alternatives
A fair comparison should examine the operating model, not just whether a product carries the DCIM label. Ask vendors to demonstrate the following in the context of your own environment:
- Coverage: Can one model include telecom, enterprise IT, data-center facilities, cloud resources and services?
- Asset relationships: Can the system connect physical, logical and virtual assets to applications and customer-facing services?
- Integration: What APIs, interfaces and data-import options are available, and how are changes reconciled?
- Multi-tenancy and delivery: Does the offering support provider-style tenant separation and SaaS operation where required?
- Capacity controls: How are rack space, power, cooling and other capacity constraints calculated and displayed?
- Workflow automation: Can requests, changes, service assurance and customer notifications be linked to inventory data?
- Deployment evidence: Are there reference deployments comparable in scale, geography, regulation and operating model to yours?
These questions help distinguish a broad infrastructure-management system from a narrowly focused asset register or room-planning application.

What FNT Command costs
Current FNT Command pricing is not published in the available sources. Cost will therefore depend on factors such as deployment model, modules, user or tenant scope, integrations, implementation work and support terms. A reliable figure requires a quote from FNT or an authorized sales channel; any universal per-user or per-rack price would be speculation.
Who is most likely to benefit
- Colocation, cloud and telecommunications providers managing multiple tenants or sites
- Large enterprises that need facilities, network and IT teams to share one infrastructure record
- Government organizations with complex, distributed infrastructure documentation requirements
- Organizations replacing disconnected spreadsheets, homegrown inventories or separate DCIM and network databases
Smaller teams with a single facility and simple equipment inventories may find a full enterprise platform unnecessary unless they specifically need multi-domain relationships, tenant separation or extensive integration.
