To turn off all Apple Intelligence features, open Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri on iPhone or iPad and switch off Apple Intelligence. On Mac, use System Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri. If you want to disable only Siri AI or selected summaries, use the separate controls available on newer software instead.
Apple’s menu labels and options vary by software version and by whether Apple Intelligence has been set up. Follow the label shown on your device.
Turn off all Apple Intelligence features
The master switch disables the Apple Intelligence suite. Apple says switching it off removes the downloaded on-device models; it does not say this erases unrelated user data or changes third-party AI apps. Apple’s iPhone guide and iPad guide document the mobile setting.
On iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Turn off the control next to Apple Intelligence.
On Mac
- Open System Settings.
- Click Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Turn off the control next to Apple Intelligence.

Turn off Siri AI but keep Siri Classic
On Apple’s newer OS 27 instructions, Siri AI and the full Apple Intelligence suite have separate controls. If your device offers Siri Classic, you can turn Siri off and then turn it back on with the classic assistant selected. This keeps Siri available without the newer Siri AI experience; the choice may not appear on older software or every device.
On iPhone
- Open Settings > Siri.
- Scroll down, tap Turn Off Siri, and confirm.
- Turn Siri back on and choose Siri Classic.
On Mac
- Open System Settings > Siri.
- Click Turn Off Siri and confirm.
- Turn Siri back on and choose Use Siri Classic.

Disable selected summaries, notifications, or suggestions
If you only want to stop a particular AI feature, leave the master switch on and change that feature’s own setting. Apple’s OS 27 iPhone guide lists these controls; names and locations may differ across versions.

Check compatibility if a setting is missing
Apple’s compatibility page lists these supported hardware and minimum software requirements. Availability also depends on region, feature, and matching device and Siri languages; requirements and availability can change, so check Apple’s current list if your menus do not match.
- iPhone: iPhone 15 Pro models and iPhone 16 models or later; iOS 18.1 or later.
- iPad: iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPads with M1 or later; iPadOS 18.1 or later.
- Mac: Apple silicon Mac; macOS Sequoia 15.1 or later.
- Apple Vision Pro: visionOS 2.4 or later.
- Apple Watch: watchOS 11 or later; Apple Watch features require pairing with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone.
Apple says on-device models download after setup, with download time varying. It advises keeping the device connected to Wi-Fi and power for a faster download. Turning off Apple Intelligence removes those models. Full requirements are on Apple’s Apple Intelligence compatibility page.
