After 14 days of putting away her foldable work gear, Tom’s Guide staff writer Ashley Thieme says the biggest change was not a measured boost in comfort or productivity: it was that packing away her keyboard and mouse made her room feel like home again at the end of the workday. The experiment also showed a small but real hurdle—remembering to fold everything away until the routine became familiar.
What Thieme changed during the 14-day experiment
Thieme used a laptop, mouse, keyboard, webcam and walking pad as a foldable workspace. The laptop model is not identified. Four other items are named: the Logitech Mobi Fold mouse, Keychron B11 Pro keyboard, OBSBOT Meet Flip webcam and WalkingPad Z1 treadmill. Her Tom’s Guide account, published September 19, 2026, describes a personal routine experiment, not a controlled ergonomics or productivity test. Read Thieme’s account at Tom’s Guide.
Putting the equipment away took practice
At first, Thieme had to remind herself to fold and store the equipment after work. As the days passed, the steps felt more automatic: she snapped the Logitech Mobi Fold shut, moved the folded Keychron B11 Pro aside and clipped the OBSBOT Meet Flip together. The account does not say that every part of the setup was packed away in the same way or provide a measured setup or teardown time.
How each named product fit her routine
Logitech Mobi Fold folding mouse
The mouse collapses into a small square, and its sensors detect whether it is folded or ready for use. Thieme says it felt comfortable and that its folded shape supported her hand. Those are her impressions, not standardized comfort measurements.

Keychron B11 Pro foldable keyboard
The B11 Pro has a split Alice layout. Thieme needed time to adjust to it, then found it natural, more comfortable and more efficient for her. Folding the keyboard away also reduced the visible desk clutter. The article reports no typing-speed or accuracy results.
OBSBOT Meet Flip webcam
The webcam measures 1.8 × 1.6 × 0.7 inches when folded, according to the Tom’s Guide account. Its folding top doubles as a privacy cover and allows the camera angle to be adjusted. Thieme liked being able to position it at different angles and store it simply.

WalkingPad Z1 folding under-desk treadmill
Thieme had used the WalkingPad Z1 for a year and a half before the 14-day experiment. She describes it as a way to get steps while working and stay engaged, and says its brushless motor was not too distracting and it was comfortable to walk on. This is an account of her experience, not evidence of a medical benefit or a general productivity effect.
The main outcome was a clearer boundary between work and home
For Thieme, the most meaningful result was the visual and psychological separation she felt after putting away her keyboard and mouse. She wrote: “There is now a clear distinction in my mind between how a room looks when it’s an at-home office and when it’s just my home.” That describes her response to the routine; the article does not establish that foldable equipment creates the same effect for everyone.

What this account can—and cannot—tell you
The experience is most useful as a practical example of how compact equipment might support an end-of-day routine. It offers personal impressions of storage, comfort, adjustment and use, but no independent measurements, controlled comparison or expert assessment. Thieme’s reported comfort and efficiency should therefore be read as her own experience rather than a product ranking or a general finding.
