Apple did delay its more personalized Siri features, but they are no longer simply awaiting launch: Apple announced on September 14, 2026, that Siri AI will begin rolling out in English beta with its 2027 software releases. Additional languages are scheduled to follow in October. Availability is not universal, however: Apple says the feature will not be available on iPhone and iPad in the EU with iOS 27 and iPadOS 27.
What Apple delayed—and what has changed
On March 7, 2025, Apple said its additional AI-powered Siri enhancements were taking longer than projected and were planned for “the coming year.” Apple’s statement, reported by Axios, said: “It’s going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year.”
The delayed set centered on three promised capabilities: personal context, onscreen awareness, and actions across apps. In a 2025 inquiry, the National Advertising Division recorded that Apple had previously marketed those capabilities and later revised its disclosures to say the functionality was in development and would arrive in a future software update. The NAD decision concerned advertising disclosures; it was not a government regulatory ruling. Read the NAD decision.
The status changed on September 14, 2026, when Apple announced that Siri AI would begin rolling out in English beta with its 2027 software releases. Apple said support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish would follow in October. That is a staged beta rollout, not a claim that the features are already generally available to every user. Apple’s rollout announcement.

What the more personalized Siri is supposed to do
Apple describes Siri AI as able to draw on personal context in messages, email, and photos; understand what is onscreen; take actions across apps; and answer broader questions using world knowledge. Those are Apple’s descriptions, not independent performance tests.
- Personal context: Apple says Siri can use details from personal information, such as locating an activity suggestion in Messages or recipe instructions in email.
- Onscreen awareness: Siri is intended to understand content currently displayed and respond in relation to it.
- Actions across apps: Apple’s examples include adding recipe ingredients to Reminders and finding sports fixtures on a website before adding them to Calendar.
- Broader answers: Apple says Siri AI can respond to questions using world knowledge.
Apple introduced these capabilities as part of Siri AI for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. Its announcement does not establish that users must buy new hardware to access the rollout. See Apple’s June 2026 announcement.

The EU restriction is a separate regional issue from the earlier delay. Apple attributed the limitation to regulatory considerations. European Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier disputed that account in comments reported by the Associated Press, saying: “The decision not to roll out Siri AI in the EU is Apple’s and Apple’s only because absolutely nothing in the DMA prohibits Apple from introducing new products in the EU.” That is the Commission’s position, not a court finding. Apple senior vice president of Software Engineering Craig Federighi said, “Our hope is to eventually bring Siri AI to the EU, and we will continue to engage with EU regulators on a path forward.”
