The company said the platform was separate from the Tile service platform and did not contain location data, passwords, payment-card numbers, or government-issued identification numbers. Its notice was published June 11, 2024, and updated June 12.
What Life360 disclosed
In its June 11, 2024 notice, updated June 12, Life360 said it received extortion emails from an unknown actor claiming to possess Tile customer information. The company said it began an investigation and detected unauthorized access to a Tile customer support platform—not the Tile service platform.
Life360 described the information as potentially impacted, not as a confirmed inventory of stolen records. It did not publish a count of affected people or records.

- Email addresses

- Tile device identification numbers
The device identification numbers are a way to identify Tile devices; the notice does not say that they reveal a device’s location history.
Were location data, passwords, or payment details exposed?
Life360 said the customer support platform did not contain payment-card numbers, passwords or login credentials, location data, or government-issued identification numbers. This describes Life360’s account of the platform and incident; the notice is not an independent forensic confirmation.

The company also said the accessed system was not its Tile service platform. That distinction is Life360’s reported finding. Its notice does not establish that location histories or passwords were taken, and it does not provide independent verification of the incident’s scope.
What Life360 said it did—and what remains unknown
Life360 said it believed the incident was limited to the specified Tile customer-support data, took protective steps, and would continue taking them. It also reported the event and extortion attempt to law enforcement.

Life360’s Data Breach Alerts help page describes alerts when a user’s information is found on the dark web. Life360 lists the feature for paid Circle members in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The help page does not say that this feature automatically enrolled people affected by the Tile incident or confirms whether someone’s information was in the support platform.

Life360’s Tile security page, last updated October 3, 2025, says Tile location data is encrypted in transit and at rest and is not sold. That is a general statement about Tile security, separate from the 2024 incident disclosure; it does not independently verify what happened in this incident.
