A code on a Samsung washer is a diagnostic clue—not a complete diagnosis or a repair instruction. It points to a problem category, such as water supply, drainage, door closure, or load balance. The exact meaning can vary by washer model, so identify the model and check its manual before troubleshooting.
What a Samsung washer code tells you
Samsung Support describes error codes as a starting point for identifying washer issues. A code narrows down what to investigate, but it does not prove which part has failed. The same code can also mean different things on different models.
Samsung’s U.S. washer information and error codes guide explains common code groups and model-specific variation. Use the guide alongside the manual for your exact washer; support instructions may differ by model and market.
Common Samsung washer codes

- ✔✔【DIY INSTALLATION】▶Disconnect the power before installing this part. The installation needs to use Phillips head screw driver and channel locks. You can find the repair video on YouTube and follow it to install DC31-00054D Drain Pump, as there were plenty of do it yourself videos on there that helped guide you on the repair. Remove the plastic cover of the pump filter, then remove the 2 screws at the back. Remove the hose from the drain pump assembly and pull it out from the bottom of the washer (be careful not to cut the wire). Easy to install ,just remember which connector plugs in to which terminal
How to troubleshoot a displayed code
- Record the code. Write down the exact letters or numbers. If the washer has no display, note which lights are blinking and their pattern.
- Identify the washer model. Find the model number on the appliance or in its documentation, then open the matching manual through Samsung’s support resources.
- Match the code to the model instructions. Check the manual and Samsung’s code guidance before deciding what the code means.
- Perform only the relevant checks. For a fill error, inspect the supply connections and hoses as directed. For a drain error, use the model’s drainage steps. For a door error, check the closure and look for an obstruction.
- Stop if the issue persists or damage is visible. Follow Samsung’s service guidance instead of repeatedly trying to clear the code.
On washers without a display, blinking lights can represent an error code, but lights may also blink during normal operation. Treat the pattern as an error when it accompanies abnormal behavior, such as the washer stopping mid-cycle, and verify it against the model manual. Samsung explains this distinction in its error-code guide.
Should you reset the washer?
A power cycle may clear a minor glitch, but a cleared code does not show that the underlying problem is fixed. If the code returns, troubleshoot the cause using the model-specific instructions. Samsung also warns that repeated resets can erase error history that may help a technician. See its washer reset guidance.

Should you run Smart Install?
No—not when an error code is already displayed. Samsung says Smart Install is intended to check for an error code and should not be run while one is showing. Its sequence differs between front-load and top-load washers; consult Samsung’s Smart Install instructions for the correct procedure.

- The same code returns after you have followed the applicable model-specific checks.
- The door, latch, hose, or another component appears damaged.
- The washer continues to stop or operate abnormally and the manual’s troubleshooting does not resolve the issue.
For a fill-error code, the documented checks may lead you to inspect the inlet hoses. That alone is not a reason to replace them: confirm the washer’s fittings, installation requirements, and actual fault before buying a replacement.

Pulled off the plastic cover for the PX3516-01 drain pump filter and then the 2 screws behind that. Removed the hoses on the drain pump assembly and pulled it out the bottom of the washer, being careful to not cut the wires (taped the sharp edges of the washer metal).
