For a conventional 6.3-inch Pixel, choose the Pixel 10a or Pixel 10 for a 1080 × 2424 display, or the Pixel 10 Pro for a sharper 1280 × 2856 panel. Choose the 6.8-inch Pixel 10 Pro XL for a larger standard phone screen. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is a separate choice: it has a 6.4-inch cover display and an 8-inch screen when unfolded.
Compare Pixel 10 display sizes and resolutions
Google’s published specifications list these displays across the Pixel 10 family. Resolution is the number of pixels in the panel; PPI (pixels per inch) describes how densely they are packed across its size. The figures below are manufacturer specifications, not independent display measurements.
| Model and display | Diagonal | Resolution | Listed density | Refresh-rate range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel 10a | 6.3 in | 1080 × 2424 | 422.2 PPI | 60–120 Hz |
| Pixel 10 | 6.3 in | 1080 × 2424 | 422 PPI | 60–120 Hz |
| Pixel 10 Pro | 6.3 in | 1280 × 2856 | 495 PPI | 1–120 Hz |
| Pixel 10 Pro XL | 6.8 in | 1344 × 2992 | 486 PPI | 1–120 Hz |
| Pixel 10 Pro Fold, cover | 6.4 in | 1080 × 2364 | 408 PPI | 60–120 Hz |
| Pixel 10 Pro Fold, inner | 8.0 in | 2076 × 2152 | 373 PPI | 1–120 Hz |

Which Pixel screen size should you choose?
Choose a 6.3-inch model for a conventional, compact display
The Pixel 10a, Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro are all listed at 6.3 inches. If that size suits your hand and pocket, the key display difference is resolution: the 10a and 10 use 1080 × 2424, while the Pro uses 1280 × 2856. The Pro is the higher-density option at 495 PPI, compared with 422.2 PPI for the 10a and 422 PPI for the 10. Consider the Pixel 10 Pro specifications if you want more listed pixel detail without moving to a larger diagonal.
#1 Best Overall
- Attention-grabbing design meets the latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera on the new Google Pixel 11 Pro XL; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can live in the moment[1]; and the phone is available in two sizes
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]
- Stay informed without looking at your screen: When your phone is face down, Pixel HiLight gently alerts you with subtle glowing lights when your favorite contacts are calling or you’re talking with Gemini; exclusive to Google Pixel 11 Pro phones
- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
Choose Pixel 10 Pro XL when screen area is the priority
The Pro XL has the largest conventional display in this lineup: 6.8 inches at 1344 × 2992 and 486 PPI. Its panel has more total pixels than the Pro’s, but its density is slightly lower because those pixels span a larger screen. The larger display also comes with a larger body: Google lists the Pro at 152.8 × 72.0 × 8.6 mm and the Pro XL at 162.8 × 76.6 × 8.5 mm. If one-handed handling or pocket fit matters, compare those dimensions as well as the diagonal.
Choose the Fold for a large unfolded workspace
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold has two panels to consider. Folded, its 6.4-inch cover display is 1080 × 2364 at 408 PPI. Unfolded, its 8-inch inner panel is 2076 × 2152 at 373 PPI. The inner screen is much larger and closer to square than a regular phone display, so its lower PPI should not be treated as a direct like-for-like ranking against a tall conventional panel. Choose it for the larger unfolded viewing area, rather than simply for a higher sharpness number.

- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Pixel 10a is sleek and durable, with a super smooth finish, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display, and IP68 water and dust protection[4]
- The Actua display with 3,000-nit peak brightness shows up clear as day, even in direct sunlight[5]
- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]
How resolution and PPI affect the choice
Resolution and density answer related but different questions. Resolution gives the panel’s pixel dimensions; PPI relates pixel density to the screen’s physical size. The Pixel 10 Pro’s 1280 × 2856 resolution and 495 PPI make it the sharpest-listed option among the 6.3-inch conventional phones. The Pro XL offers more total pixels, but its larger panel brings its listed density to 486 PPI. The Fold’s inner panel has a different, squarer shape, so comparing its PPI alone with a standard phone does not tell you which display best fits your use.
Use brightness and refresh rate as secondary comparisons
Google lists brightness and refresh capabilities separately from size and resolution. HDR and peak brightness are not interchangeable readings: Google says HDR brightness is measured at 100% on-pixel ratio, while peak brightness is measured at 5% on-pixel ratio. These figures describe different measurement conditions, not a promise of the same brightness across everyday use.

| Display group | Listed HDR brightness | Listed peak brightness |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 10a and Pixel 10 | Up to 2,000 nits | Up to 3,000 nits |
| Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL | Up to 2,200 nits | Up to 3,300 nits |
| Pixel 10 Pro Fold cover display | Up to 2,000 nits | Up to 3,000 nits |
| Pixel 10 Pro Fold inner display | Up to 1,800 nits | Up to 3,000 nits |
Google lists 60–120 Hz for the Pixel 10a, Pixel 10 and Fold cover display; the Pixel 10 Pro, Pro XL and Fold inner display list 1–120 Hz. These are supported ranges, not a guarantee that every app or type of content uses every refresh rate. Google cautions that Smooth Display is not available for all apps or content.

- Pick the form factor first. Decide whether you want a conventional phone or a foldable with separate cover and inner displays.
- Set your preferred size. Choose among the 6.3-inch standard models, the 6.8-inch Pro XL or the Fold’s 6.4-inch cover and 8-inch inner displays. For a conventional phone, check the body’s height and width as well as the diagonal.
- Compare resolution and PPI within the size you want. At 6.3 inches, the Pro has higher listed resolution and density than the 10a and 10. For the Fold, consider its inner panel’s shape and viewing area as well as PPI.
- Use brightness and refresh range to break a tie. Read brightness figures with their measurement conditions in mind, and treat refresh rates as listed capabilities rather than a setting every app will use.
Google’s detailed Pixel hardware specifications provide the display measurements, while the Google Store Pixel comparison gives a family-level comparison. The published specifications are useful for comparing listed features; they are not independent tests of perceived sharpness or brightness.
