What was reported about measles in Enfield
A February 20, 2026 MIT Technology Review newsletter summary reported 34 confirmed measles cases in Enfield since the start of 2026. It said most people affected were children under 11 and one in five had needed hospital treatment. These are figures as reported at that time, not a current surveillance update.
The same newsletter item paired the local report with a broader concern about measles cases. A separate newsletter summary reproduced by CDO TIMES on January 23, 2026, reported more than 2,500 confirmed cases in the United States since the start of January 2025 and three deaths at that time. That is a US national figure covering a different geography and reporting period; it should not be read as a current total or compared directly with Enfield’s local count.
