“Warcraft” can mean the classic real-time strategy games, World of Warcraft (WoW) and its modes, or an upcoming release. The right place to play or buy it depends on which one you mean: the RTS remasters are available through Blizzard’s Battle.net Shop and PC Game Pass, older versions of the first two games are sold through GOG, and WoW is installed through the Battle.net desktop app. WoW’s announced Forever mode is not available yet; Blizzard has scheduled it for November 4, 2026.
Which Warcraft game are you looking for?
Before checking a store, identify whether you want a classic strategy game, a particular version of World of Warcraft, or a forthcoming WoW mode. Those are separate products with different platforms, storefronts, and access requirements.
- Classic strategy games: Warcraft I: Remastered, Warcraft II: Remastered, and Warcraft III: Reforged are included in Blizzard’s Warcraft Battle Chest. Blizzard also lists all three as PC Game Pass titles.
- Older releases: Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II Battle.net Edition are available through GOG, with different operating-system and multiplayer details.
- World of Warcraft: WoW is a subscription-based game with multiple active modes. Modern WoW has a limited free trial; Classic access depends on the mode and your game-time or subscription entitlement.
- Upcoming WoW mode: World of Warcraft: Forever has a future launch date of November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST. It has not launched as of October 4, 2026.
Available Warcraft strategy games: editions and platforms
| Game or offer | Where it is available | What to check before buying or installing |
|---|---|---|
| Warcraft I: Remastered and Warcraft II: Remastered | Included in Blizzard’s Warcraft Battle Chest and listed as PC Game Pass titles. | Compare the Battle Chest bundle with the standalone offer available in your region. The reviewed announcements establish PC availability, but do not specify current system requirements. |
| Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (GOG rerelease) | GOG; Blizzard says the rerelease supports Windows and Mac. | Check the GOG listing for current OS requirements and language options before purchase. |
| Warcraft II Battle.net Edition (GOG rerelease) | GOG; Windows. The purchase includes a classic version and a GOG-enhanced version. | Choose the version based on the multiplayer you need: classic supports classic Battle.net matchmaking; enhanced supports LAN and peer-to-peer multiplayer, but cannot connect to classic Battle.net. GOG Galaxy is optional, according to Blizzard. |
| Warcraft III: Reforged | Blizzard’s Battle.net Shop and PC Game Pass. Blizzard also says purchasing Reforged on Battle.net provides digital downloads of the original Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne. | Check the current Battle.net listing for available editions and system requirements. The original launch announcement named Standard and Spoils of War editions; that does not establish which edition names are currently offered. |
| Warcraft III: Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom | Available on Battle.net as a campaign, in a combo with Reforged, and in the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection. | Requires Warcraft III: Reforged. Blizzard says the collection is available through January 11, 2027; check the live offer and bundle contents before checkout. |
The Warcraft Battle Chest bundles Warcraft I: Remastered, Warcraft II: Remastered, and Warcraft III: Reforged. Blizzard says existing owners of qualifying Battle.net purchases may receive a bundle discount, subject to the current store offer. Its PC Game Pass announcement also described a 20% discount on standalone titles for qualifying PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate subscribers who link Xbox and Battle.net accounts. The announcement said that offer began June 26 and is subject to change; confirm current eligibility, regional availability, and terms in the store rather than assuming the discount still applies.
World of Warcraft modes, installation, and subscription access
WoW is installed and managed through Blizzard’s Battle.net desktop app. Blizzard’s installation instructions say each version must be installed separately. The active modes and their entitlements can change, so check Blizzard Support’s current “Current World of Warcraft Modes and Versions” page before choosing a specific Classic mode.

How to choose the right store and avoid a mismatched purchase
- Identify the exact title and version. Distinguish the remastered strategy games from the GOG rereleases, Reforged from the original Warcraft III downloads, and a WoW mode from an RTS release.
- Use the stated storefront. Blizzard directs buyers to Battle.net for its listed digital Warcraft products and WoW. Blizzard says the Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II Battle.net Edition rereleases are sold or downloaded through GOG, not the Battle.net desktop app.
- Confirm platform and region. Check the exact OS, region, edition, and current system requirements on the product’s checkout or store page. The older GOG rereleases have different OS support, and the Warcraft II versions have different multiplayer compatibility.
- Read what is included. Verify whether the offer is standalone or a bundle, which campaigns or original downloads it includes, and whether a required base game is already in your account. Forsaken Kingdom, for example, requires Warcraft III: Reforged.
- Check access and payment terms. For WoW, confirm whether the mode requires game time or a subscription and whether the offer recurs. Review the checkout page’s account requirements, refund terms, and any Game Pass or linked-account conditions.
Buying from the storefront named for the product reduces the chance of choosing an incompatible edition or an unverified key. Blizzard’s reviewed information does not establish a complete policy for authenticating every third-party seller, so do not assume an unrelated seller is authorized without separate confirmation. Availability, prices, regional catalogues, and promotional terms can change.

What is known about the physical Collector’s Edition?
Blizzard says the World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition is available through the Blizzard Gear Store while supplies last.
