Crimson Moon’s latest cited update, Hotfix 1.0.2, is live and includes fixes for saves, co-op, and Steam Deck issues. But Team Metal says save work is ongoing: it recommends sticking to one device for a save where possible, and says a more substantial save-handling rework is planned for Patch 1.1. PC players can also make a local backup as an added precaution.
Where are Crimson Moon save files stored?
SteamDB’s Steam Cloud metadata reports this Windows path: %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/CrimsonMoonNGSavedSaveGames. This is a metadata-derived location, not a save-recovery instruction confirmed by Team Metal. Linux has a reported path override in the same metadata. Because the developer has not provided a verified recovery procedure, treat the location as a lead for finding files—not as a guarantee that copying or restoring them will recover a lost save. How to reduce save risk
- Where possible, continue a save on one device rather than switching between a Windows PC and Steam Deck.
- If you play on PC, Team Metal says you may want to create a local backup as an additional precaution. The announcement does not specify a folder path or guarantee a particular restore outcome.
- Do not assume that Steam Cloud synchronization or Hotfix 1.0.2 eliminates the risk of save loss.
Team Metal says Hotfix 1.0.2 improved save stability, but remaining cases are still under investigation. It specifically recommends using a single device where possible because many of the issues it is investigating happen when moving between devices. Does Crimson Moon support Steam Cloud, and can you transfer a save between PC and Steam Deck?
SteamDB lists Steam Cloud save metadata for the game, including a Windows location and a Linux override. That indicates Cloud Save configuration in Steam’s metadata, but it does not establish that cross-device transfers are currently reliable in every case. Team Metal’s latest cited advice is to avoid switching devices on the same save where possible while it investigates remaining issues.

This caution follows earlier reports: a launch known-issues notice, updated September 1, 2026, documented Steam-to-Steam-Deck sync trouble and save-data loss during updates. Hotfix 1.0.1 later announced a fix for a Steam Deck/PC sync issue, while the 1.0.2 announcement still warns that device-switching cases remain. Does Crimson Moon have multiplayer or co-op?
Yes. The Steam listing describes Crimson Moon as a single-player game with online co-op. Hotfix 1.0.2 addressed reported co-op problems involving Quickplay and joining sessions, cross-platform friend requests, client progression and gear state, combat and damage behavior, parrying, reviving, and collecting Lore Scrolls. Does Crimson Moon work on Steam Deck?
Hotfix 1.0.2 includes Steam Deck-specific fixes, but the cited update does not provide a measured frame rate, battery-life figure, or formal compatibility rating. Team Metal says it improved performance using the default graphics configuration; that is not a published benchmark or a universal settings recommendation.

- Combat desynchronization and host-side display of animations from a Deck client.

Can I transfer my Crimson Moon save between PC and Steam Deck?
