Check the power and fit

If temperature may be the issue, let the battery return to the operating conditions specified in its own manual, then check the indicator again. RYOBI’s product information does not define every light or blink sequence, so use the exact charger manual to interpret what you see.

Isolate the battery or charger with compatible equipment
If you have another known-compatible RYOBI 40V battery or charger, compare products one at a time and follow both manuals. RYOBI lists its OP4011A 40V 2A Lithium-Ion Charger as compatible with any RYOBI 40V battery. Compatibility does not prove that your original charger has failed, nor does another charger guarantee that a damaged battery will recover.

Stop troubleshooting and contact RYOBI
If the battery still will not charge after the applicable manual’s checks, use RYOBI’s support options for model-specific help, warranty information, Rapid Repair, authorized service centers, or parts. If you think the battery may be under warranty, RYOBI asks you to contact customer service and have the battery, a compatible tool, and the charger available.

Should you replace the charger?
Consider a compatible 40V charger only after checking the outlet, connections, battery temperature, and model-specific guidance, or after RYOBI support indicates the charger may be at fault. Confirm the replacement’s compatibility and the features you need before buying; a charger is not a guaranteed fix for a battery that will not charge.
RYOBI’s OP4011A product page describes it as compatible with any RYOBI 40V battery. RYOBI also claims it can charge a RYOBI 40V 2Ah battery in as little as one hour; that is the manufacturer’s product claim, not an independent test result. The OP406A 40V Rapid Charger page says its indicators report charging status and whether a battery is too hot or too cold. These details are not enough to establish a universal performance ranking between chargers.

When should you replace or recycle the battery?
Get a diagnosis or warranty guidance before replacing a battery that may still be covered. For out-of-warranty 40V battery replacements, RYOBI directs owners to Home Depot. RYOBI also points to Call2Recycle’s locator for recycling options. Do not put a damaged battery in household waste; follow local battery collection guidance.
