Choose the bundle if you want the game and its current local price makes it good value; otherwise, buy the system alone. The console is ready to use out of the box, so add accessories only for a specific need such as more game storage, portable protection, extra players, or a second TV setup.
Standard Switch 2 or the Mario Kart World bundle?
Nintendo lists a standard system and a Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle in the U.S. The bundle includes the console and a full download of Mario Kart World. Compare the live bundle price with the current price of the system and game separately in your region: stock, prices, and savings can change, and Nintendo’s launch prices are not current-price guidance.
- Choose the standard system if you do not want Mario Kart World or the bundle is not worthwhile at the price you can get.
- Choose the bundle if Mario Kart World is already on your list and the live bundle price is attractive.

What comes with the standard system?
The system includes Joy-Con 2 controllers, a Joy-Con 2 grip and straps, a dock, an AC adapter, a USB-C charging cable, and an Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable, as well as the console itself. You can play in handheld, tabletop, or TV mode without buying another controller or basic dock setup.

What the Switch 2 offers
The built-in LCD measures 7.9 inches and has 1920 × 1080 resolution, HDR support, and VRR up to 120 Hz. In supported games, handheld play can reach a maximum of 120 frames per second. In TV mode, the dedicated dock supports up to 3840 × 2160 at 60 fps; supported 1080p or 1440p output can reach 120 fps. Actual resolution, HDR, VRR, and frame rate depend on the software and compatible display. Nintendo says TV Mode VRR support arrived in a system update released September 10, 2026. The system has 256 GB of internal storage, with some space reserved for system use. Existing physical and digital Switch games can work on Switch 2 when compatible, but Nintendo warns that some titles may not be supported or fully compatible. Which accessories are worth buying?
microSD Express card: for more game storage
Switch 2 requires a microSD Express card to expand game storage; an ordinary microSD card from the original Switch cannot store or load Switch 2 games. Nintendo supports microSD Express cards up to 2 TB, and using a card for the first time requires an internet system update. Buy one if your game library outgrows the console’s available internal space, rather than treating it as a required purchase.

Carrying case and screen protector: for travel
If you carry the console regularly, a fitted carrying case and screen protector can help protect it in transit. Extra controller or charging grip: for your play style
The included Joy-Con 2 pair covers basic play. Consider a Switch 2 Pro Controller if you prefer a traditional controller, or a Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip if you want a controller-shaped grip that charges the Joy-Con pair over USB-C. Camera, extra dock, or replacement adapter: for specific situations
Nintendo offers a Switch 2 camera for video features, a separate dock set for another TV location, and a replacement AC adapter. - Games: Compatible physical and digital Switch games can be played, but support is not universal and some games may not be fully compatible.
