A May 2, 2025, cybersecurity roundup covered three separate developments: reporting that NullPoint Stealer source code had leaked, researcher Guilherme Rambo’s disclosure of an iPhone denial-of-service flaw and his reported US$17,500 Apple bounty, and BreachForums’ temporary shutdown. The malware and iPhone findings have linked technical reporting; the explanation for the forum outage comes from its administrators and remains unverified.

NullPoint Stealer source code was reported leaked

SecurityWeek reported on May 2, 2025, that the source code for NullPoint Stealer had been leaked online. Kruse Industries’ May 1 analysis described it as a C# information stealer for Windows, with code available on GitHub. Its reported collection targets included browser passwords, bookmarks and cookies; VPN configurations; cryptocurrency wallets; Steam data; documents; and other files. The reporting says the malware sent collected information to a command-and-control gateway.

Those are reported capabilities, not evidence that any particular computer was infected. The sources do not provide a victim count. Kruse Industries’ NullPoint analysis and SecurityWeek’s roundup describe the leak and malware.

Rambo reported a US$17,500 award for an iPhone flaw

Security researcher Guilherme Rambo disclosed CVE-2025-24091, a denial-of-service issue involving Darwin notifications. In his account, an installed widget could post a notification that put the system into a restore-in-progress state. Repeated triggering could leave the device soft-bricked and require erasing it and restoring from a backup.

Apple iPhone 14, 128GB, Midnight - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
  • Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.

  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Rambo’s disclosure says he reported the issue to Apple on June 26, 2024; Apple marked it resolved and bounty-eligible on January 28, 2025; and it was addressed in iOS and iPadOS 18.3 on March 11, 2025. Rambo reported receiving US$17,500 for the finding. That is his reported award for this specific vulnerability, not a typical Apple bounty or a general measure of payouts. Apple’s Security Bounty program overview describes the program but does not independently confirm his individual award.

“The result is a device that’s soft-bricked, requiring a device erase and restore from backup.”

SecurityWeek reported that BreachForums had been temporarily shut down. In a statement reproduced on Reddit on April 28, 2025, the forum’s administrators claimed the site had been targeted through a MyBB zero-day as part of a law-enforcement action. They also claimed the forum’s infrastructure and data had not been compromised and that nobody had been arrested.

What the three reports establish

  • NullPoint: reporting described leaked source code for a Windows infostealer and its potential data targets, but did not establish how many victims there were.
  • iPhone: Rambo described a Darwin-notification flaw addressed in iOS and iPadOS 18.3 and reported a US$17,500 bounty for his finding.
  • BreachForums: the temporary shutdown was reported, while the administrators’ explanation and assurances remain claims rather than independently verified findings.
