To let a second call from the same number ring while Do not disturb is on, enable Repeat callers in your Galaxy’s Do not disturb call settings. Samsung says the second call must arrive within 15 minutes. This is a conditional exception—not a guarantee that every emergency call will get through.
Turn on Repeat callers
- Open Settings.
- Tap Notifications, then Do not disturb.
- Under Allowed during Do not disturb, tap Calls and messages.
- Turn on Repeat callers. Samsung describes this as allowing calls from the same phone number received more than once within 15 minutes. See Samsung Support’s Galaxy call-settings instructions.
If the menu labels differ, search Settings for “Do not disturb.” Samsung notes that screens and available settings can vary by model and software version.
Open Do not disturb settings from Quick Settings
Swipe down to open Quick Settings, then touch and hold the Do not disturb icon. From its settings, go to the call exceptions. Samsung documents this shortcut in its Galaxy Do not disturb instructions.
Repeat callers or selected contacts?
| Option | Who can get through | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat callers | The same phone number calls again within 15 minutes | A conditional exception; the caller must call again within the window. |
| Allowed callers or selected contacts | Callers in an allowed group or contacts you select, depending on the controls available on your phone | Does not depend on a second call. Samsung’s call settings may offer choices such as all callers, contacts, favorite contacts, or none. |
Choose Repeat callers when you want a repeated call to get through without pre-approving that number. If particular people should be able to call through on the first attempt, use the caller or contact controls available under Calls and messages. Google’s Android Do Not Disturb instructions describe the same 15-minute repeat-call behavior, though Samsung’s device-specific menus are the relevant guide for Galaxy navigation.

What the exception does not guarantee
The rule depends on a second call from the same number within 15 minutes. It is therefore a way to let some urgent repeat calls through while Do not disturb is active, not a promise that every emergency call will ring. Menu labels and available options also differ across Galaxy models and software versions.
