Longines has the much longer documented history, but Raymond Weil and Longines prices overlap in the specific U.S. models compared here. The better choice depends on the watches themselves: compare their style, movement and complication, fit, practical specifications, and local price rather than treating either brand as one uniform product.

How do their histories compare?

Longines traces its origins to 1832 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Its parent company, Swatch Group, describes it as the oldest registered trademark still bearing its original winged-hourglass emblem and highlights the brand’s history in precision watchmaking and sports timing. Swatch Group’s Longines profile supplies that historical account.

Raymond Weil was founded in 1976. The company describes itself as an independent, family-owned watchmaker; founder’s grandson Elie Bernheim leads the business. Its identity emphasizes Swiss watchmaking, independence, and inspiration from music and the arts. That makes Raymond Weil considerably younger than Longines, but a founding date by itself does not establish which present-day watch is better made or better suited to a particular buyer. The company’s account is on its history page.

What do the listed U.S. prices show?

The official U.S. listings accessed in 2026 show overlap, not a simple division in which every Raymond Weil costs less than every Longines. These are particular list prices, not comprehensive brand-wide ranges or transaction prices; regional pricing and availability can change.

Conquest 41MM Quartz Watch
  • Stainless steel with triple safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism
  • 2 Year International Warranty
Brand and model Example shown Official U.S. list price
Raymond Weil Toccata Heritage 28 mm variants $1,195, $1,275, $1,650, $1,875, $2,350, $2,425, and $2,550
Raymond Weil Millesime Small Seconds 39 mm, tuxedo dial $2,425
Longines Flagship Heritage 38.50 mm, automatic, stainless steel $2,150
Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase Moonphase variants $3,450

Raymond Weil’s cited prices come from its U.S. collection listings; the Longines examples come from the U.S. Flagship Heritage page. The moonphase is a more complicated watch than a simpler time display, so its higher price is not a like-for-like comparison with a time-only model. Compare the exact references and specifications before drawing a value conclusion.

What design cues distinguish the cited collections?

Raymond Weil: vintage-informed and varied

Raymond Weil’s Toccata Heritage was created for the brand’s 50th anniversary. The company describes it as a contemporary interpretation of classic women’s watchmaking, with a curved round case and jewelry-inspired details that evoke proportions from the 1950s through the 1970s.

HYDROCONQUEST 41MM Automatic Watch
  • Automatic L888 movement, hours, minutes, seconds and date Screw-down case back
  • Stainless steel with double safety folding clasp
  • 5 Year International Warranty

The Millesime Small Seconds takes a different direction: its 39 mm case is paired with a tuxedo dial. The A.R.T. is Raymond Weil’s first integrated-bracelet watch, with an architectural case, polished bevels, and contrasting finishes. These examples show why it is more useful to compare collections and models than to assign one style to the whole brand. Details are described on Raymond Weil’s U.S. site.

Longines: heritage styling in the Flagship line

Longines says the Flagship has been an emblematic collection since the late 1950s and characterizes its look as elegant and simple. One distinctive detail is on the screw-down caseback: a hand-painted enamel caravel mounted on an 18-carat gold medallion.

HYDROCONQUEST 41MM Automatic Watch
  • Automatic L888 movement, hours, minutes, seconds and date Screw-down case back
  • Stainless steel with double safety folding clasp
  • 5 Year International Warranty

Longines also says its automatic watches use movements with silicon balance-springs. The company describes silicon’s properties as improving resistance to ordinary temperature variation and magnetic fields; that statement is not a head-to-head accuracy result against a Raymond Weil model. The collection details and movement description appear on the Flagship Heritage page.

How should you compare two specific watches?

Start with the exact references you are considering. The examples above do not provide a complete paired technical specification, so they cannot establish a technical winner. Use the manufacturers’ specification sheets for both watches and check these points:

LONGINES Spirit Zulu Time 39MM Automatic Watch
  • Automatic L844 movement, hours, minutes, seconds and date. 24 hours hand with time zone mechanism
  • Stainless steel with double safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism
  • 5 Year International Warranty
  • Use and appearance: Decide whether you want a dress watch, an everyday design, a vintage-informed look, or an integrated bracelet.
  • Movement and function: Check whether each watch is quartz or automatic and whether it shows only the time or adds a feature such as a moonphase or chronograph.
  • Fit: Compare case diameter and thickness, lug-to-lug length when available, and strap or bracelet dimensions. Diameter alone does not tell the whole fit story.
  • Materials and practical specifications: Verify case and crystal materials, water resistance, clasp type, and any model-specific magnetic or shock-resistance claims.
  • Ownership: Check warranty terms, service access and cost, and whether the seller is currently authorized in your market.
  • Price basis: Compare current local list prices, taxes, availability, and whether both watches are new, pre-owned, or discounted.

The available official collection pages establish selected designs and regional list prices, not comparative wear-test results. They do not establish which brand is more accurate, durable, finely finished, less costly to service, or likely to retain more resale value. A specific claim on any of those points needs evidence for the exact models being compared.

Is Raymond Weil’s anniversary watch a typical comparison?

No. Raymond Weil’s anniversary page lists The Fifty, a 37 mm limited-edition chronograph, at €9,990 and marked sold out when accessed. The company describes it as using a hand-wound historic Valjoux Calibre 23-6 with a 48-hour power reserve. This unusual anniversary model is not representative of either brand’s everyday lineup, and its euro price should not be compared directly with the U.S. prices above.
