That is a researcher assessment reported by SecurityWeek, not an independently reproduced source-code comparison here.
What the 2019 report said about MobiHok and SpyNote
SecurityWeek reported that SenseCy researchers investigated MobiHok v4 after tracing a sales thread associated with the alias mobeebom and examining a malware-builder sample. The researchers’ conclusion was that the tool drew on SpyNote source code that had leaked online in 2016.
“The initial findings of our technical analysis confirmed that mobeebom probably obtained SpyNote’s source code, made some minor changes, and now resells it as a new RAT under the name MobiHok.”
The quotation is attributed to SenseCy researchers in SecurityWeek’s 16 September 2019 report. The wording “probably” matters: the published account presents the researchers’ assessment, not proof independently established in this article.

What capabilities were attributed to MobiHok v4?
The 2019 SecurityWeek account attributed several functions to MobiHok. These are reported capabilities and claims, not hands-on test results established here.
- Access to files and the device camera
- Keylogging
- Control involving SMS messages and contacts
- Claimed ability to bypass Samsung and Google Play security measures
- APK binding, meaning the ability to package the RAT with another Android application
What later reports add—and what they do not prove
MobiHok v6
A later report by Qianxin’s Threat Intelligence Center discusses a MobiHok v6 sample and enumerates functions involving SMS, apps, contacts, call records, location, files, photos and screen capture. That version-specific account is useful context, but it does not establish that every listed function applied to MobiHok v4 in 2019. See Qianxin’s report on Nuo Chong Lions.

Nuo Chong Lions association
Group-IB’s Hi-Tech Crime Trends 2020/2021: Military Operations lists MobiHok among four mobile RATs used by Nuo Chong Lions. This supports only the report’s stated association with that tool set; it does not show that the group was MobiHok’s only or primary user. The report is available from Group-IB.
Telegram discussion mentions
Positive Technologies’ 2025 report says MobiHok accounted for 4% of Android RAT mentions in its Telegram discussion dataset. What remains uncertain
The cited reports do not establish whether MobiHok remains active today, how prevalent it is now, or which current security products detect it. The 2019 findings should therefore be read as a historical account of MobiHok v4 and the researchers’ source-reuse assessment, not as current threat telemetry.
