Google’s Cloud Vulnerability Reward Program (Cloud VRP) lists rewards from $3,133.70 for some lower-impact findings to a $50,000–$101,010 range for a specific production-environment compromise. Those figures are conditional, not guaranteed payouts: impact, product tier, report quality and the program’s rules all matter. Most importantly, Google expressly prohibits testing customer-owned Google Cloud resources under this program.
What Google’s Cloud VRP covers
The Cloud VRP is for qualifying technical vulnerabilities in Google Cloud products or web services that handle reasonably sensitive user data. Google’s rules give examples such as cross-site scripting (XSS), cross-site request forgery (CSRF), mixed-content scripts, authentication or authorization flaws, server-side code execution and XSLeak bugs. A listed bug type is not automatically eligible: it still needs to fall within scope and demonstrate meaningful security impact.
Google Workspace is not covered by this program; it has a separate Google VRP. Some third-party sites may carry Google branding while being operated by vendors or partners, and Google says it cannot authorize testing those systems on their owners’ behalf. The rules also describe a six-month blackout for recently acquired companies, with a stated exception for Wiz. Check the official Cloud VRP rules for current scope and exceptions.
Do not test customer-owned Cloud resources
Cloud VRP research on customer-owned Google Cloud instances, applications or data is prohibited and makes a report ineligible—even if a researcher hopes to uncover a Google-owned infrastructure flaw. A vulnerability in Google’s infrastructure is not the same as a vulnerability in a customer’s application or resource.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Google identifies domains such as *.bc.googleusercontent.com and *.appspot.com as indicators of customer resources, and warns against broad scanning of IP ranges primarily used by customers. Use resources you own or another target that is expressly authorized. Google’s rules say researchers can provision their own Cloud resources; findings confined to a researcher’s own provisioned resource may not qualify for a reward.
Google Cloud reward amounts in the schedule for reports from October 1, 2025
The following are examples from Google’s published 2025 schedule for reports submitted on or after October 1, 2025. They are Tier 1 (IT1) amounts, not universal rates across Google Cloud products. The applicable product or component tier and the conditions in the relevant impact category can change the amount.

| Finding in the published schedule | Tier 1 (IT1) amount |
|---|---|
| S0a: compromise of the Google Cloud production environment | $50,000–$101,010 |
| S0b: full administrative takeover of a Cloud project or organization | $25,000 |
| S0f: single-service privilege escalation with read capability | $20,000 |
| S1a: project or organization takeover with full administrative control when the attacker has prior access to a Cloud asset or the target is public, subject to the rule’s conditions | $20,000 |
| S2a: insecure defaults or confusing permissions | $3,133.70 |
Google also lists lower amounts for Tier 2, default Cloud products, acquired products and lower-priority products. The product tier list matters: if an integrated component caused the vulnerability, Google’s rules say that component’s tier may determine the reward rather than the service through which the flaw was found. Consult the live reward table and product tier list before estimating a payout.
Why the advertised amount is not a promised payout
Google says, “The final amount is always chosen at the discretion of the reward panel.” The panel assesses the report under the program rules; a row in the table is not a promise that a report will be accepted or paid. Google says the final amount may also be adjusted by a report-quality factor of 0.8x, 1x or 1.2x. The rules describe this as an adjustment based on such dimensions as a clear vulnerability description, attack preconditions and impact analysis—not as a guaranteed bonus.

Severity and impact conditions matter as much as the headline number. For example, the listed S1a amount has specific prior-access or public-target conditions. Product tier, whether exploitation requires attacker-victim interaction or prior access, and the strength of the demonstrated impact all affect how a report fits the schedule.
What makes a report more likely to qualify
Google expects a valid attack scenario and a functional proof of concept. A useful report should make clear what an attacker can do, what prerequisites are needed, and what security impact follows. A technically accurate description without a demonstrated security boundary failure or meaningful impact may not qualify.

- Explain the affected Google Cloud product or service and the security boundary involved.
- Provide a working proof of concept and a reproducible attack scenario.
- State attacker prerequisites and the resulting impact, including relevant access requirements.
- Stay within authorized targets and avoid customer-owned resources.
The rules identify several examples that may be low-risk or non-qualifying: findings without meaningful impact; activity confined to a researcher’s own provisioned resource; customer misconfiguration or customer application code; certain XSS findings on sandbox domains without demonstrated sensitive-data impact; and UI/API discrepancies that do not bypass a security boundary.

Google describes the Cloud VRP as experimental and discretionary and says it may cancel the program. Reward eligibility is also subject to sanctions and geographic limitations. Google says critical Google Cloud vulnerabilities will receive CVEs, and contributors may receive public leaderboard recognition subject to profile and program details.
