Those figures should not be treated as reconciled counts. Chrome 120 is now a historical release; use Chrome’s built-in updater to install a current supported version rather than seeking out version 120.
Why do the reported patch totals differ?
SecurityWeek’s December 6, 2023 report, titled “Chrome 120 Patches 10 Vulnerabilities,” said the initial release patched 10 vulnerabilities, including five reported externally. Google’s December 5 desktop release notice instead said the update contained 14 security fixes. The public notices do not establish whether the two sources counted the same categories, and Google’s announcement does not itemize all 14 fixes.
SecurityWeek also reported $15,000 in total bug bounty rewards associated with externally reported issues. That is SecurityWeek’s account, not a total established by Google’s release notice. Read SecurityWeek’s report and Google’s initial release notice.
What did Google identify in the initial Chrome 120 release?
Google promoted Chrome 120 to stable for Windows, Mac, and Linux on December 5, 2023. The listed builds were 120.0.6099.62 for Mac and Linux and 120.0.6099.62/.63 for Windows. Google named seven externally reported flaws in the notice:

Google also credited internal audits, fuzzing, and other initiatives with additional fixes. It cautioned that details and links could remain restricted until most users had updated, so the announcement is not a complete public inventory of all the fixes.
