What is RuneScape Reignited?
Jagex positions Reignited as a way to rediscover Gielinor and begin the journey anew, bringing together recent changes with a refreshed experience. Its official page describes a world without Treasure Hunter and puts the core RuneScape adventure first. Those are Jagex’s stated goals; they do not establish that Reignited is a separate sequel.
A remastered opening journey
Jagex says it is remastering the experience from gameplay to graphics, starting with players’ first steps in Lumbridge. Its page describes parts II and III as arriving later in 2027. The RuneFest roundup gives more detail on the first planned update: environments, early quests and bosses, core skill interactions, skill guides, interface clutter, and default settings are among the areas it is intended to address.

A guide and integrated plugins
The Gielinor Adventure Guide is intended to help players decide what to do next and make progress through RuneScape. Jagex also says community-developed plugins will be integrated into the game, naming Quest Helper as an example. The announcement does not provide a complete plugin list.

Named system removals and restoration
Jagex says Hero Pass has been removed, Treasure Hunter is gone, and Evolution of Combat is “a distant memory,” describing these changes as part of putting the core adventure first. The page also refers to gameplay and system improvements shaped by player feedback. These statements describe the direction and named changes Jagex has announced; they are not a full inventory of every system change.
Which should you play?
There is not enough confirmed information to recommend “RuneScape 4” over Reignited—or the reverse. If you are choosing based on information Jagex has published, evaluate whether the announced Reignited direction matches what you want from RuneScape, while treating the other name as unresolved.
