One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchWhen a game leaves Xbox Game Pass, it is no longer included for play through the subscription. To keep playing, you generally need to buy the game separately; Xbox says a member discount of up to 20% may apply, but it is not guaranteed for every title or market. Your exact options depend on the game, platform, region, and plan.
What changes when a game leaves Game Pass?
Game Pass is a changing catalog, not permanent ownership of every included game. Once a title exits, the subscription no longer provides access to it. Xbox’s Game Pass catalog has a “Leaving soon” collection and describes those games as exiting within the next two weeks.
The catalog recommends buying a departing game to keep playing, and advertises savings of “up to 20%” with a member discount. That is a maximum, not a promise that a particular game will be discounted or that the offer is available in every region or for every plan. Check the game’s live store listing while signed in to the account you use for Game Pass.
Can you still play after the game leaves?
Not through the Game Pass subscription once the game is removed. If you want to continue, check whether you can buy that title for the same platform and edition you use. Confirm that the purchase page identifies the version you need and review the price and any member discount shown for your account before buying.

Availability can differ by time, region, Game Pass plan, and platform. Xbox cautions that catalog titles, features, and availability vary across those factors, so a listing or offer someone else sees may not match yours.
What does “Leaving soon” mean?
Xbox describes games in its “Leaving soon” collection as exiting within the next two weeks. Treat that as a time-sensitive notice: look at the live catalog for the current title and confirm the date and supported platforms on the game’s listing. The catalog page accessed October 4, 2026 did not provide a usable current title list in its captured page text, so no specific game can be identified here as currently leaving.

For context only, an Xbox Wire announcement dated February 3, 2026 listed Madden NFL 24 for Cloud, Console, and PC as leaving February 15, 2026. That was a past departure notice, not a current schedule; the announcement also said members could save up to 20% on a purchase.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you lose your save when a game leaves?
The official catalog and announcement cited here do not establish a universal rule for whether a save remains usable after a game leaves Game Pass. Do not assume that the save is deleted, or that it will definitely work if you later buy the game. Save behavior can depend on the particular game and platform, so check the publisher’s or platform’s guidance for that title before relying on a save being available.
