Anthropic announced Claude Opus 4.5 on November 24, 2025, positioning it as a model for coding, agentic workflows and computer use. It was made available through Anthropic’s apps and API, as well as major cloud platforms. As of October 4, 2026, Anthropic lists Opus 4.5 as an active legacy model and recommends considering migration to Opus 5.5.

What Claude Opus 4.5 is

Claude Opus 4.5 is an Anthropic model released on November 24, 2025. At launch, Anthropic described it as its best model for coding, agents and computer use, and highlighted work such as deep research, creating slides and spreadsheets. The company also cited improvements in vision, reasoning, mathematics, agentic search and long-running tasks. Those descriptions are Anthropic’s release claims, not a guarantee of results for every prompt or workflow.

Anthropic’s launch announcement reported three named benchmark results:

  • A 10.6% jump over Sonnet 4.5 on Aider Polyglot.
  • Leadership in seven out of eight programming languages on SWE-bench Multilingual.
  • 29% more earnings than Sonnet 4.5 on Vending-Bench.

Anthropic reported these results in 2025. They describe performance on the named tests and comparisons; they should not be read as a current overall ranking or as a prediction of how the model will perform on a particular project. Anthropic’s launch announcement provides the release context.

Where you can use Claude Opus 4.5

At launch, Opus 4.5 was available in Anthropic apps, through the Claude API, and on Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud and Microsoft Foundry. Availability and model identifiers can differ by platform and may change; check the relevant provider’s current listing before integrating it.

For the Claude API, the model ID is claude-opus-4-5-20251101. Anthropic’s current model documentation also lists platform-specific identifiers for Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud and Microsoft Foundry. Its availability details are in the Claude Opus 4.5 model documentation.

Claude Opus 4.5 pricing and limits

As of October 4, 2026, Anthropic’s model documentation lists a 200K-token context window and a maximum output of 64K tokens. The listed base API prices are $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens. These are separate input and output rates, not one flat charge per conversation.

Item Anthropic documentation as of October 4, 2026
Context window 200K tokens
Maximum output 64K tokens
Base input price $5 per million tokens
Base output price $25 per million tokens

Prompt caching and batch usage have separately listed rates, and costs can also depend on the cloud provider when using a cloud platform. Check Anthropic’s current pricing details and the provider’s terms for the deployment you plan to use; the base rates above do not represent every possible billing arrangement.

What Anthropic said about safety

Anthropic said Opus 4.5 was more robust to prompt injection and pointed to a system card with detailed evaluations. That is the company’s claim; the release announcement alone does not establish how well the model will resist every injection attempt in a real deployment. Treat the model as one component of a security design, and review the system card and your own application’s threat model before relying on it for sensitive workflows.

Should you choose Opus 4.5 now?

Anthropic’s documentation, accessed October 4, 2026, labels Opus 4.5 “Legacy” and “Active (legacy).” The model remains available, and the documented retirement date is “Not sooner than November 24, 2026”—not a confirmed shutdown date. Anthropic advises users to consider migrating to Claude Opus 5.5 for improved performance.

If you are evaluating Opus 4.5 for an existing integration, weigh its documented limits and pricing against your workload, deployment platform and migration requirements. The 2025 benchmarks may help explain why Anthropic launched it, but they are not a like-for-like current comparison with newer models. Confirm present availability, rates and migration guidance in the current model documentation.

Claude Partner Network is for implementation firms

Anthropic announced a $100 million initial commitment to the Claude Partner Network in March 2026 to support partner training, technical support and joint market development. In June 2026, it introduced a Services Track and Partner Hub. The program describes referral credit and deal protection for partners that bring Anthropic new business, and is aimed at organizations implementing Claude for enterprises—not general consumer affiliates. Firms considering the program should confirm eligibility and current terms. See Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network announcement and Services Track announcement.
