1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf your group wants co-op games with exploration in space, the best fit depends on whether you want to roam a galaxy, build together on planets, or tackle combat-heavy missions. No Man’s Sky is the strongest pick for broad, self-directed galaxy exploration; Astroneer is better for collaborative planetary building; and Deep Rock Galactic turns exploration into a team action mission. One newer option is already here, too: Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions was listed as a 2026 release, not a game you still need to wait for.
Choose by the kind of co-op exploration you want
| Game | Exploration style | Best for | Co-op details established by the cited listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| No Man’s Sky | Broad, self-directed travel across a procedurally generated galaxy and between planetary surfaces | Groups seeking freedom, discovery, and survival elements | Cross-play is described by Hello Games; a maximum party size is not established here. |
| Astroneer | Planetary exploration, terrain shaping, crafting, and base building | Groups who enjoy shared projects and a sandbox | Four-player online co-op on the official PlayStation listing; platform support varies by store. |
| Deep Rock Galactic | Procedurally generated cave missions with mining and combat | Groups who prefer coordinated action and replayable objectives | One to four players on the official PlayStation listing. |
| Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions | Online expeditions across alien worlds in the Astroneer universe | Groups interested in a newer cooperative expedition game | Nintendo lists online co-op and cross-platform play; its Switch 2 listing showed 1–100 online players, which should not be read as a normal squad size. |
For galaxy-scale freedom: No Man’s Sky
No Man’s Sky is the clearest choice if your group wants to decide its own pace and destination. Hello Games describes it as exploration and survival in an infinite, procedurally generated galaxy. Its official press page says players can team up with friends or join random travellers, gather resources, find generated discoveries, and move between planetary surfaces and other worlds.
Hello Games says, “Thanks to cross-play, you can play together no matter which platform you’re on.” That makes it a strong option for groups split across platforms, but check the current platform and edition details for each player before buying. The cited page does not establish a maximum group size, so do not plan around an assumed cap.
The trade-off is that this is also a survival game: resource gathering and survival pressures are part of the experience, not just optional decoration around sightseeing. Hello Games’ press page includes release headings through “THE SWARM (V6.4),” indicating ongoing updates; it is not a promise of a particular future update schedule or feature.
#1 Best Overall
- ORBITING PLANETS: As you play, the planets orbit around the sun, creating an ever-changing strategic landscape.
- HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS: Thick board with precise and thoughtful design to create a seamless play experience.
- FLEXIBLE PLAYER COUNT: Play with 4 players or use the "Bot Rules" to fill out any empty spots around the table.
- GREAT FOR GAME NIGHTS: 60-90 minute playtime, only 15 minutes to learn, good for ages 14+.
- MANY WAYS TO WIN: Invest heavily in research, get sneaky with espionage, or build a resource-rich empire! There's no one way to become the interplanetary champion!
For planetary sandbox projects: Astroneer
Astroneer focuses on exploring and shaping planets, then turning what you find into shared projects. System Era calls it a multiplayer space exploration sandbox. Nintendo’s editorial page highlights terrain shaping, handcrafted planets, vehicles, and four-player online co-op. The official PlayStation listing describes four-player online drop-in/drop-out co-op and group base building; Steam lists online co-op alongside exploration, crafting, base-building, and automation.
Pick it when the fun is in making a place together: manipulating terrain, gathering materials, and building a base or industrial setup. It is less suited to a group whose main goal is realistic starship travel through a vast galaxy. System Era’s support FAQ lists Steam, Xbox Play Anywhere/Windows, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch; that platform list alone does not establish that every combination supports cross-play, so verify compatibility for your devices.

For shorter, combat-focused missions: Deep Rock Galactic
Deep Rock Galactic is a better match for teams who want exploration with a clear objective and regular fights than for players seeking quiet, open-ended cosmic wandering. Its official PlayStation page describes a one-to-four-player co-op first-person shooter built around procedurally generated cave systems, mining, destructible environments, hostile creatures, and four distinct classes.
The class-based teamwork and mission structure make it a strong pick for coordinated action and replayable objectives. The PlayStation listing says PS Plus is required for online play on PlayStation; do not assume that requirement applies to other platforms.

A newer option that is already released: Starseeker
Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions is a cooperative game set in the Astroneer universe, not an unreleased title to put on a waiting list. Nintendo describes crews exploring alien worlds, completing expeditions, gathering resources, and developing gear and loadouts. Its official Switch 2 listing showed a June 11, 2026 release date; as of October 4, 2026, that makes it a current release.
Nintendo lists online co-op and cross-platform play. The same listing’s 1–100 online-player field is not evidence of a typical 100-player squad or party, so treat it as a broad store field rather than a practical group-size promise. Check the listing for your platform and edition for current availability and online details.

Check before choosing a game
- Match the exploration loop to your group. Choose No Man’s Sky for a broad galaxy journey, Astroneer for planetary sandbox building, or Deep Rock Galactic for mission-based exploration and combat.
- Confirm everyone’s platform and edition. Cross-play and platform availability are not interchangeable; use the relevant current store listing to confirm that your group can play together.
- Check online-play requirements by platform. Subscription rules can differ between platforms, as the PlayStation-specific PS Plus requirement for Deep Rock Galactic illustrates.
- Verify current price and availability before purchase. Store listings and editions can change, and the cited information does not establish a current price for every platform.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
