Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising may suit you better if you want simple skill inputs and structured practice, while Guilty Gear -Strive- offers an adaptive tutorial and mission-based learning. These features show how each game supports newcomers; they do not prove that one is universally easiest.
At a glance: how the three games teach beginners
| Game | Lower-friction controls | Solo introduction | Practice and first online steps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Street Fighter 6 | Modern simplifies special-move inputs. Classic keeps the six-button layout and command inputs. Dynamic is intended for casual offline play and is limited to certain Fighting Ground modes. | World Tour is presented as a starting point; Fighting Ground has a character guide and tutorial for each character. | Character guides and training help with learning inputs. Modern controls can also be used in Battle Hub. |
| Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising | Smart and Super Ultimate are accessible control approaches; Manual offers full control. The game retains deeper battle mechanics to learn. | Story teaches basics, and Arcade difficulty can be adjusted after matches. | Includes Situational Training, Combo Practice, frame information, character breakdowns, and Punish Training. Character Versus Ranks are separate; the publisher describes crossplay and rollback netcode. Private online rooms are unavailable in the Free Edition. |
| Guilty Gear -Strive- | The cited feature information describes guidance, but does not establish an equivalent simplified control mode. | Its tutorial adapts advice to a player’s inputs and skill. Arcade includes character story. | Missions, situational training, and Combo Maker support practice. The publisher describes matchmaking as seeking players around the user’s skill level. |
The comparison reflects features described by the games’ official materials as of October 4, 2026. Features alone cannot establish comparative learning time, retention, match quality, or how quickly a new player will win.

What makes Street Fighter 6 a good first pick?
Street Fighter 6 gives newcomers options rather than requiring them to begin with the traditional command-input approach. Modern controls reduce the execution burden for special attacks, while Classic preserves the six-button layout and command inputs for players who want that style. Dynamic is a separate, casual-oriented option, but it is restricted to certain offline Fighting Ground modes; it is not a general substitute for controls across the whole game.
The learning support extends beyond the control setting. World Tour is presented as an entry point, and Fighting Ground provides a guide and tutorial for each character. That combination makes Street Fighter 6 especially worth considering if you want to learn through solo play before concentrating on matches.

- Classic Experience Built for a Modern Era: With all core gameplay modes present, plus two brand new modes and enhanced visuals, Street Fighter 6 redefines the classic fighting game genre.
- Distinct Fighting Styles to Master: 18 diverse characters including legendary World Warriors and exciting brand new characters add their own flair to the game at launch, with more to be added post-launch.
- Brand New Game Modes: The Street Fighter franchise continues to hone its skills and redefine the fighting genre with the introduction of three new foundational modes – Fighting Ground, World Tour and Battle Hub.
- In-Game Commentating: Street Fighter’s first-ever Real-Time Commentary Feature, supported with subtitles in 13 languages, incorporates the voices of popular Fighting Game Community (FGC) commentators like Vicious and Aru directly into the game to narrate what is happening on-screen just like a real tournament.
- Two New Control Schemes: Classic Controls returns alongside two brand new options: Modern Controls allow you to perform special attacks with simple button combinations and are designed for players who want to fight without memorizing and practicing special move button combinations first. Dynamic Controls only require a press of the Auto-Attack button to perform attacks and is a great control type to use when you have friends and family over for a quick, casual game.
Modern controls are also usable in Battle Hub, so choosing them does not mean limiting yourself to offline play. They lower one hurdle—executing special moves—but movement, defense, spacing, and recognizing opponents’ options still take practice.
When Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising may suit you better
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is a compelling alternative if you want simple skill inputs alongside explicit, structured practice tools. Its Smart and Super Ultimate schemes are positioned as accessible ways to use skills, while Manual provides fuller control. Easier access to skills does not remove the game’s deeper battle mechanics, so expect to keep learning after the first few matches.
Rank #2
- Stunning visuals and an all new battle system depicts the world of Street Fighter with unprecedented detail.
- For the first time ever, SF6 provides an ever evolving immersive storytelling experience that gives power to the player to create their own World Warrior and truly engage in the Street Fighter Universe
- SF6 provides the gold standard fighting experience for both casual and battle-tested pros can enjoy for years to come.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the international version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions. DLC content may not work unless using an EU Playstation account as stated this is an EU Import Region Free Version
Its solo and training options support a gradual approach: the story teaches basics, Arcade difficulty can be adjusted after matches, and practice modes cover specific situations, combos, frame information, character breakdowns, and punishes. Separate character Versus Ranks and the publisher’s description of crossplay with rollback netcode are relevant if you plan to move online. If private online rooms matter to you, note that they are unavailable in the Free Edition.
What Guilty Gear -Strive- offers new players
Guilty Gear -Strive- stands out for a tutorial that adapts advice to the player’s inputs and skill. Missions, situational training, and Combo Maker provide ways to work on more specific skills. The available feature information does not establish a simplified control mode comparable to those documented for Street Fighter 6 or Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, so do not assume the same kind of input shortcut.

The publisher describes matchmaking as seeking players around the user’s skill level. That is an intended feature, not a guarantee that matches will feel evenly matched in every region, at every time, or at every player population.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which one should you choose?
- Choose Street Fighter 6 if you want to try simplified special-move inputs alongside a substantial solo introduction and guides for individual characters.
- Choose Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising if simple skill inputs, adjustable solo difficulty, story-based basics, and focused training tools are your priorities. Check the Free Edition’s private-room limitation if you plan to play in private online rooms.
- Choose Guilty Gear -Strive- if its style appeals to you and you expect to use adaptive tutorial advice, missions, and practice modes to build your skills.
There is no evidence here to support a definitive easiest-to-hardest ranking. A control shortcut can make attacks easier to execute, but it does not teach every part of fighting-game play. If you are torn, prioritize the game you most want to return to and use its learning tools to build from there.
