It is worth considering if you want a wider, more immersive presentation from a compact speaker and can accept a Bluetooth-focused feature set. Its “spatial audio” label describes Soundcore’s processing and speaker design—not a standardized surround-sound specification—and listening impressions depend on the mode, music, placement, and listener.
Is the Soundcore Motion X500 worth it?
For listeners who value a more expansive presentation over conventional portable-speaker simplicity, the X500 has a clear point of difference. Soundcore specifies 40W output, Bluetooth 5.3, IPX7 protection, app-adjustable sound modes, and support for LDAC on compatible Android devices. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. The trade-offs are practical: runtime depends heavily on settings and use, there is no USB audio playback, no wired analog input, and the wall charger is not included. Tom’s Guide reviewer Alex Bracetti praised the spatial modes and wireless performance but reported charging his test unit after eight hours; that is one publication’s result, not a standardized runtime guarantee. What does the X500’s spatial audio sound like?
The X500 has an upward-facing “sky channel” driver and Soundcore’s selectable spatial processing modes. Together, these are intended to make music seem wider and more immersive than a straightforward forward-facing portable speaker. This is a listening presentation, not evidence that the X500 meets a general surround-sound standard.

Published impressions are favorable but not identical. SoundGuys describes a full low end and finds Spatial Dynamic livelier than Spatial Signature, while noting weaknesses in some EQ presets. TechHive also praises the Spatial Dynamic presentation. Tom’s Guide highlights the spatial modes in its verdict. These are reviewers’ subjective impressions; the mode, recording, placement, room, and volume can all affect what you hear. How long does the Motion X500 battery last?
Soundcore says the Motion X500 supports up to 12 hours of playtime, with that maximum specified at 50% volume and BassUp off. The company cautions that volume, content, and custom EQ affect actual runtime; LDAC also uses more power and reduces playtime. Treat 12 hours as a conditional manufacturer maximum, not an expected result for every listening session.

Tom’s Guide reported eight hours before charging in its own use and particularly cautioned about higher volume and spatial audio. That figure is specific to its test unit and use, and it cannot be directly compared with other reviewers’ results as though all used one battery-test procedure.
Does the Soundcore Motion X500 work with iPhone?
Yes. The X500 is a Bluetooth speaker, and the iPhone limitation concerns LDAC rather than basic Bluetooth speaker use: Soundcore says LDAC is not supported on iPhone. Its FAQ lists LDAC, SBC, MPEG2, and AAC codecs; it says LDAC works on Android 8.0 or later. Soundcore’s app instructions for enabling LDAC are Settings > Sound Mode > Preferred Audio Quality. Is the Motion X500 waterproof?
Soundcore rates the X500 IPX7, but the rear waterproof cover must be firmly and securely closed before submersion. Check that cover before exposing the speaker to water; TechHive likewise emphasizes closing the port cover. The rating does not remove the need to follow the manufacturer’s handling guidance.
Charging, package contents, and connections
The box includes the speaker, a 60 cm USB-C-to-C cable, a safety card, and a quick-start guide. It does not include a wall charger. Soundcore specifies a certified 5V/3A (15W) charger and estimates about five hours to charge with one. The user guide advises using a certified USB-C cable and charger to help prevent damage. Yes. Soundcore says two Motion X500 units can pair using TWS, while a single X500 plays both left and right channels. The X500 cannot TWS-pair with the Motion X600 or Motion+. If you plan to expand to a paired setup, compatibility means choosing another X500.
