Neither Webex nor GoTo Meeting is a clear winner for every team. Webex has published US plan details that make its free option easy to assess and an Enterprise tier with capacity for up to 1,000 attendees. GoTo highlights webcam and screen sharing, cloud recording, integrations, and support, but the available information does not establish a current, comparable price or a full plan-by-plan feature list. Choose by matching your meeting size, collaboration and recording needs, integrations, administration requirements, and actual regional cost—not by either vendor’s “better than” claims.
Webex vs. GoTo Meeting: what matters most?
For a small team that can work within the limits of Webex’s US free plan, Webex offers a clearly stated starting point. For a team prioritizing GoTo’s advertised meeting and integration features, GoTo Meeting may be worth evaluating—but confirm which features are included in the plan you would buy. Neither point establishes an overall winner: the products’ published comparisons come from the vendors themselves, and the available plan information is not a like-for-like comparison.
- Start with capacity and duration: identify your usual and largest meeting size, and whether sessions regularly exceed the free-plan time limit.
- Check the workflow: compare recording, collaboration tools, calendar and app integrations, and how people join from different devices.
- Check administration and security: confirm that each service meets your organization’s actual management and security requirements.
- Compare real purchase terms: request current prices for the relevant country, number of seats, billing term, and required features.

GoTo’s current price is not established here
GoTo’s comparison page advertises features including combined webcam and screen sharing, cloud recording, custom backgrounds, integrations, and support, but it does not provide a current, comparable price and complete plan-by-plan feature matrix in the information available here. GoTo claims savings of up to 41% per month versus comparable top-tier Webex plans. That is a vendor comparison claim, not a verified price outcome for your purchase. “Comparable” plan selection, billing term, seat count, taxes, and geography can all affect the result; compare current quotes on equivalent terms rather than treating the percentage as a general saving. Recording needs differ by listed plan
GoTo advertises cloud recording, but the feature listing alone does not identify the plan or conditions required. Webex’s US free plan lists local recording, while its Enterprise listing includes local and unlimited cloud meeting recording. If recordings must be stored in the cloud, retained for a particular period, or accessed by particular users, verify those conditions in the relevant plan before deciding.

Reliability, bandwidth, and security claims
Read vendor comparisons as claims, not head-to-head proof
GoTo’s sales page claims 99.99% uptime for GoTo Meeting, but does not state a measurement period or methodology alongside the figure. It also says Webex had 33% more issues and outages than GoTo Meeting in 2020, attributing that historical comparison to Downdetector. The 2020 figure is not a current outage comparison.
The same GoTo page claims that GoTo Meeting uses 33% less bandwidth than Webex, describing the figure as based on third-party tests without identifying the tests in its accessible text. These are GoTo’s claims, not independently established current comparative results. The page’s claims and available qualifications are at GoTo’s Webex comparison.

What the published user ratings can—and cannot—tell you
Webex’s comparison page reproduces TrustRadius scores dated January 12, 2022: likelihood to recommend was 8.6 for Webex and 8.1 for GoToMeeting; usability was 9.0 and 8.4, respectively. The scores are dated and appear in a Webex-authored comparison page. They are a historical signal, not current ratings or proof that Webex is better for your team. Webex’s comparison page.
Both vendors’ comparison pages advocate for their own service. GoTo presents GoTo Meeting as a simpler alternative; Webex argues that Webex is better. Treat those pages as statements of each vendor’s position, and give more weight to the features and commercial terms you can verify for the specific plans you are considering.
How to choose for your team
- Write down your meeting requirements. Record typical and peak attendance, usual duration, and whether guests must join by computer, mobile device, or telephone.
- Specify the features you actually need. Decide whether local or cloud recording is required, and list must-have collaboration tools and calendar or app integrations.
- Check the relevant plans, not just product pages. Confirm that each needed feature, attendee limit, and joining method is available on the exact tier and in your country.
- Review administration and security requirements. Ask your IT or security team which controls, management tools, and authorization claims matter, then verify them in the vendor’s official documentation.
- Compare quotes on equal terms. Use the same country, number of users, billing period, and feature requirements for each service; account for taxes and any other purchase conditions.
- Test the workflow with representative users. Check whether hosts and guests can join, share, record, and use required integrations in the way your team expects before committing broadly.
Verdict: choose by workflow, then verify the plan
Webex is easier to assess if you need a clearly listed free option or are evaluating the stated capacity and recording features of its US Enterprise listing. GoTo Meeting is a candidate if its advertised meeting features and named integrations fit your workflow, but verify tier availability and obtain a current quote. The evidence does not establish a universal winner or a reliable price advantage; the better service is the one whose confirmed plan meets your requirements at a purchase price you can compare fairly.
