The often-repeated 24GB figure comes from leaks, not an official specification, and reports disagree about whether a new GeForce RTX 50-series launch could arrive in 2026. There is no verified Super price, release date, retail availability, or benchmark result.
What the RTX 5080 Super leak claims
A May 20, 2025 report by Tom’s Hardware, citing hardware leaker Kopite7kimi, described a possible RTX 5080 Super with 24GB of GDDR7, 10,752 CUDA cores—the same count as the regular RTX 5080—and graphics power above 400W. The report gave no price or availability details.
VideoCardz reported a similar rumor: 24GB of GDDR7 on a 256-bit bus at 32Gbps, with power above 400W. It cautioned that board-partner specifications could change and supplied no release timing.
In June 2026, another Tom’s Hardware report repeated the 24GB claim and cited 415W. These are leak-based figures, not a settled specification sheet. The 415W figure should not be treated as a confirmed final power rating.

How the rumored card compares with the announced RTX 5080
NVIDIA’s January 2025 launch announcement named the RTX 5080, but not an RTX 5080 Super. Leak comparisons list the regular RTX 5080 with 16GB and allege 24GB for the Super. The 8GB difference is only a reported capacity comparison; it does not establish that a Super exists or how it would perform.
NVIDIA announced the RTX 5080 at $999 with availability beginning January 30, 2025. That was the launch announcement, not a current retail price or guarantee of stock. NVIDIA also named ASUS, Colorful, GIGABYTE, MSI, PNY, and ZOTAC among the add-in-card providers. Those launch-era details apply to the announced RTX 5080, not to an unannounced Super.

The cited coverage provides no RTX 5080 Super benchmark testing. More memory alone cannot establish gaming performance, and the leak claims do not provide results for other workloads.
Could it launch in 2026?
The public timeline claims conflict. On June 5, 2026, Tom’s Hardware relayed leaker MEGAsizeGPU’s claim that RTX 50 Super was “back on track” for a 2026 launch. A separate Tom’s Hardware report described another report claiming NVIDIA would release no new gaming GPUs during 2026; it also noted NVIDIA did not announce new GPUs at CES 2026. These are third-party reports, not a confirmed launch schedule.

In that coverage, NVIDIA said: “Demand for GeForce RTX GPUs is strong, and memory supply is constrained.” That statement addresses GeForce demand and memory supply; it does not confirm or explain an RTX 5080 Super launch.
A status explainer published on August 18, 2026, reported that no desktop RTX 5080 Super or RTX 5080 Ti had been officially listed as of that date. That dated status does not establish what NVIDIA may announce afterward. None of the cited reporting establishes a reliable Super release date or retail availability.

Should you wait for an RTX 5080 Super?
There is not enough confirmed information to make waiting for this specific model a dependable buying plan. If you need a GPU now, compare announced cards that are actually available to you rather than treating the rumored Super as a purchase option. If you can wait, do so because your timing is flexible—not because the 24GB claim guarantees a product or a performance upgrade.

- Memory capacity: assess it against the games or applications you use; capacity by itself is not a benchmark.
- Power and system fit: wait for official power and connector specifications before deciding whether your power supply and case are suitable. The rumored 400W-plus and 415W figures are not final requirements.
- Measured performance: look for benchmarks in your own workload once a product and reliable testing exist.
