Corsair’s free Firmware Update Utility lets you check for and install firmware for listed compatible devices in a browser, without installing iCUE. It is a simpler route for that specific task, not a universal updater for every Corsair product or a replacement for iCUE’s broader device controls.
What the Corsair Firmware Update Utility does
Corsair announced the browser-based utility on April 8, 2025. Its purpose is to check for and install firmware on supported devices. Corsair’s launch release described it as a “more lightweight and flexible way of updating their peripherals.” The utility is free, and using it to update a compatible device does not require an iCUE installation.
That distinction matters: firmware updates are not the same as changing lighting, macros, or profiles. Corsair’s announcement and guide describe the browser utility as an updater; they do not establish that it offers iCUE’s wider customization features. If you need those controls, use iCUE.
Which Corsair devices are supported?
Compatibility is model-specific, so check Corsair’s [Firmware Update Utility guide] for the exact device or receiver before connecting it. The guide was last updated January 15, 2026, and says its compatibility list changes as products are added.

Devices named in the guide include HS55 Wireless, HS80 Max Wireless, K100 RGB, K70 Core RGB variants, K70 Max, K70 RGB Pro, Katar Elite Wireless, and M65 RGB Ultra, as well as several wireless receivers. That list is illustrative, not a promise that every model in a product family—or every Corsair peripheral—will work. Confirm the precise model and any receiver required against the current guide.
How to check for and install an update
- Check compatibility. Find your exact device or receiver in Corsair’s current utility guide.
- Choose a supported setup. Use a current Chrome or other Chromium-based browser, such as Microsoft Edge or Opera, on Windows or Mac.
- Open the updater. Visit Corsair’s Firmware Update Utility and connect the compatible device.
- Review what the page detects. Check the device and firmware information shown. Select Update only if the utility offers an update.
Corsair says users can subscribe to email notifications for new firmware. The utility page requires JavaScript to be enabled.

Browser and operating-system limits
Corsair recommends current Chrome or another Chromium-based browser, including Edge and Opera. Its guide says the utility was tested on Windows and Mac. Linux may work with root permissions, but Corsair says it has not been thoroughly tested; other operating systems are unsupported. If the updater does not recognize a device, first verify the exact model is listed and use a recommended browser and operating system.

Corsair’s April 8, 2025 launch release said the utility was localized into 12 languages. That is a launch-era figure, not a guarantee of the current language count.
