Check the exact model and regional software variant, then compare its Android security patch level with Xiaomi’s support information for that model. If routine updates have ended, reduce sensitive use or replace the tablet if you need ongoing security maintenance; safer habits cannot replace missing system fixes.
Why is my Redmi tablet not getting updates?
There are several possible explanations: an update may not yet have reached your device, the release may vary by region, or Xiaomi may no longer support that particular model. A missing notification alone does not establish that support has ended.
Start with the complete model name and model code, plus the region and ROM variant shown on the tablet. “Redmi Pad” is a family name, not enough information to determine a support cutoff. Xiaomi says its published HyperOS rollout schedule can change and that availability and timing vary by device and region.
For example, Xiaomi’s global HyperOS 3 schedule listed REDMI Pad 2 and REDMI Pad 2 4G for November–December 2025, and REDMI Pad Pro, REDMI Pad Pro 5G, REDMI Pad SE 8.7, and REDMI Pad SE 8.7 4G for December 2025–March 2026. Those windows have passed, but the schedule does not prove that a particular tablet received a specific build or that it continues to receive security patches.

How do I check for updates on my Redmi Pad?
- Record the installed software details. Open Settings > About tablet and note the full model name or code, Android or HyperOS version, and Android security patch level. Also identify the tablet’s region or ROM variant if it is shown in the software information.
- Check the built-in updater. In Settings, open the system software update screen and use its check-for-updates function. Menu wording can vary by software version. Use a reliable network and ensure there is enough battery charge and storage for an installation.
- Compare like with like. Look up Xiaomi’s support or software information for the same model and regional variant. A rollout announcement can help explain timing, but it is not a complete end-of-support list. Allow for staged availability rather than changing the device region just to prompt an update.
- Ask Xiaomi if the status is unclear. Contact Xiaomi support or an authorized service outlet with the model code, region/ROM, installed version, and patch level. These details make it easier to distinguish a delayed rollout from a support cutoff.
Xiaomi’s Redmi Pad user guide directs owners to the built-in software update feature or an authorized service outlet. It warns that updates through other means may cause device damage, data loss, security issues, or other risks. That warning is specific to the Redmi Pad guide; it does not establish that every third-party operating system is unsafe.
Is my Redmi tablet end of life?
Confirm end-of-life status using current Xiaomi information for your exact tablet and region. If Xiaomi’s status is not clear, ask its support team or an authorized outlet. Do not infer a tablet’s cutoff from a different model’s promise or from a general smartphone policy.

Support commitments can be model-specific. Xiaomi India’s REDMI Pad SE 4G FAQ specifies two major Android updates and three years of Google security maintenance for that model. That commitment should not be treated as a policy for every Redmi tablet.
Xiaomi Italy’s security-update FAQ says smartphone support is generally maintained for at least two years after a model’s first shipment, may extend to three years or more for some models, and may include a fix for a very serious vulnerability after a smartphone is listed as end of life. It addresses smartphones, not Redmi tablets, so it does not establish a tablet’s support period.

What should I do if security updates have ended?
Choose based on the tablet’s remaining official support, your need for current apps and sensitive accounts, your comfort with technical changes, and the cost and expected useful life of a replacement.

Reduce risk if you keep the tablet
- Install available updates for the browser and apps you still use.
- Use a strong, unique password and multifactor authentication where offered.
- Avoid unknown app files and untrusted Wi-Fi.
- Keep backups of important data.
These steps are risk reduction, not a substitute for missing Android or firmware patches. If you consider community firmware, verify that its maintainers support your exact device and read their installation guidance before proceeding; do not use a package intended for another model or region.
