The company’s public notice described a limited potential impact, while a threat actor was reported to have claimed that 103 GB of data involving nearly half a million customers was stolen. Cooler Master’s notice does not confirm that larger figure.
What happened?
In a Massachusetts breach notice, Cooler Master said it detected unauthorized activity in its systems on May 19, 2024. It said it worked with an outside forensic team to investigate and contain the activity. In its public announcement, the company said the investigation was ongoing, that it believed little consumer data and no partner business data had been improperly accessed, and that it had identified and eliminated the incident and added safeguards. Those statements were a preliminary assessment, not a published final finding. Massachusetts notice · Cooler Master announcement
Is the half-million figure confirmed?
No. A June 2024 recap attributed the claim that 103 GB of data, including information on nearly half a million customers, was stolen to the threat actor. The company announcement reviewed here does not confirm either number, and no independently verified final count is established in the available accounts. Treat both figures as allegations, not a confirmed tally. DuoCircle’s June 2024 recap
